We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-conscious Operations Technician to join our operations team in New Orleans, LA. This facility has made the hydrogen used in every NASA and Space X shuttle launch since the Apollo Space Mission! The process units consists of a Steam Methane Reformer (SMR), 2 Liquid Hydrogen (H2) Plants and an Air Separation Unit (ASU) with Nitrogen (N2) Liquefier.

In this role, you will be responsible for controlling and monitoring the processes to produce hydrogen (e.g., steam system, compressors, rotating equipment, and DCS operation), performing equipment inspections and minor maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to following safety protocols.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in the basic safety process, sharing responsibility for the site’s overall safety performance.
  • Maintain operation of plant; assist in plant equipment mechanical repairs, instrument calibrations and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Follow, update, and maintain operating procedures to ensure safety and efficiency of the operations.
  • Provide troubleshooting expertise for the production units.
  • Oversee trailer loading operations.
  • Share site responsibilities: PM's, Plant readings, monitor inventories, etc.

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and/or military experience.
  • Experience in operations, maintenance, or monitoring of industrial process plants.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Team player that is flexible and has a positive attitude.
  • Strong computer skills.

Education and Licensing Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • Process Technician Associates or certificate preferred but not required.
  • Two-year technical degree is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Elevated work required.
  • Ability to enter confined spaces.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time, direct hire, hourly position based on-site in an industrial plant facility in New Orleans, LA.
  • No travel requirements.
  • Shifts are rotating 12-hr shifts (5 4 5) and will overlap with nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • 24/7 on-call requirement.
  • Overtime pay eligibility.
