The Business Control Office (BCO) within Texas Capital Bank’s 1LOD is responsible for delivering a consistent approach to business operations, strengthening the company’s risk and control infrastructure, and providing effective enterprise services. The BCO partners with internal groups such as Audit, Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, and Legal to ensure robust risk management practices across the organization.
The BCO is seeking an Operations Team Lead to join the BCO group. This role will lead a team of 2–4 professionals and oversee the execution of operational risk and control activities, including the Risk and Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA) program, and support Issues Management and Global Delivery functions. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills, capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of 2–4 individuals within the BCO group.
Oversee completion and maintenance of Risk and Controls Self Assessments (RCSAs) across enterprise operations.
Support Line of Business (LOB) teams in assessing operational risks and performing control rationalization activities. Guide assessment of control environment and determining effective risk mitigation or identification of gaps.
Facilitate workshops and collaborate with internal stakeholders including 2LOD, Audit, Compliance, and Enterprise Risk Management.
Maintain risk and control data within source systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Review policies and procedures to document process maps, risks, and controls, KPIs/KRIs, and/or guide analysts in this activity.
Identify and confirm risks and controls during change management activities, including the drafting of risks and controls in line with standards.
Conduct / oversee meetings with clear objectives, outcomes, and follow-up items.
Document and maintain the company-wide risk and controls framework.
Prepare presentations and reporting for senior leadership.
Oversee Issues Management Program and help with issue documentation and resolution.
Complete vendor oversight activities such as vendor scorecards, and third-party risk oversight functions.
Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
Execute tasks assigned by leadership and contribute to team objectives.
Qualifications
3+ years of prior experience with RCSAs and Enterprise Risk in a banking environment.
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience/certification.
Advanced experience identifying risks and controls in processes and performing/guiding risk and control self-assessments and other risk management activities.
Strong understanding of banking operational risk techniques and financial institution processes.
Previous leadership experience required.
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities effectively.
Advanced knowledge of and experience in documenting process maps in process mapping software.
Experience with Audit, Legal, Compliance, and regulatory requirements.
Proven ability to solve problems and implement sustainable solutions in a financial institution.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong facilitation, organization, and influencing skills.
Extreme attention to detail and ability to understand risk interdependencies. Intermediate MS Excel and MS PowerPoint knowledge.
