Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of duties for day-to-day operations for the Mobile Health Centers including medical assistant functions, patient registration, and driving Mobile Health Center safely. Performs insurance verification and billing, appointment scheduling and telephone or on-line appointment reminders; timely updating of all pertinent patient record demographic information; telephone answering and clinic receptionist functions. Assists in the process to re-engage and maintain patient in care. Performs data entry for grant programs and operations. Assists provider including all back-office duties. Provides nursing support with various functions such as invasive procedures, medication administration, performing appointment and registration scheduling functions including general reception services. Assists the RN with clinical clerical functions. Ensures smooth work and patient flow within the clinic. Safely and responsibly drives the DHHA Mobile Health Centers (MHCs) to and from its home location across the Denver metro area. Assumes proper set-up and break-down of MHC to service patients, including starting any of the medical or vehicle equipment. Troubleshoots non-working equipment by contacting appropriate support services (e.g., Hologic tech support, Biomed, eHealth Services, fleet management) and escalation as needed in timely manner. Secures MHC prior to return for overnight parking. Operates a variety of office equipment. Works flexible hours, including split shift and weekends as needed.

Essential Functions:
  • Performs administrative medical assistant duties as required including various medical secretarial, financial bookkeeping and insurance tasks. (25%)
  • Vehicle Operations: maintains control of the vehicle at all times, allowing for the unpredictable responses of other drivers. Abides by standard traffic laws while driving in the non-emergency mode. Maintains due safety when parking the vehicle at the scene of request for STAR, and the use of emergency lighting while standing at such scenes. (25%)
  • Assists with scheduling patient appointments, pre-registration, benefit verification and financial counseling on an as needed basis. (25%)
  • Acts as an extender for the care team by assisting patients in problem solving potential issues related to the health care system, financial or social barriers (e.g. request interpreters as appropriate, transportation services or prescription assistance) in an effort to facilitate care coordination and support plans of care. (20%)
  • Participate in community outreach educational programs and educational activities to promote quality patient care. (5%)

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:
  • 1-3 years Experience in a customer-facing position. Required
  • CDL permit required upon hire. Required

Licenses:
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
  • DLR-Colorado Driver's License Class R - DMV - Department of Motor Vehicles Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to prioritize and perform a multitude of duties in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic systems, hydraulics, and internal combustion engines
  • Ability to use critical analytical thinking skills to identify patients that are unable to fully participate in registration process due
  • to injury, age, language or other undetermined barriers
  • Microsoft Office Suite preferred
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to learn and be proficient in electronic health record documentation
  • Ability to treat all customers and co-workers with courtesy, dignity and respect; consistently displays courteous and respectful verbal and non-verbal communication with customers and co-workers as established by policies and procedures
  • Bilingual skills preferred
