The Opportunity:
CACI has an opening for an Operational Medicine Clinical Subject Matter Expert to support and train medical applications within the AFCENT CIO area of operations. Under limited supervision, this specialist will provide advanced clinical informatics support, guide operational medicine workflows, translate end-user requirements into technical capability needs, and deliver enterprise end-user support. The primary systems supported include the Theater Medical Information Program (TMIP), its replacement OpMedCDP, the Deployed Medical Waivers System (MEDXS), BATDOK, and other emerging Air Force and Joint operational medical platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Represent Air Force, AFCENT, and enterprise clinical requirements to Joint and DoD operational medicine stakeholders, ensuring alignment to evolving mission needs and MHS modernization priorities.
- Drive development, deployment, and sustainment of the electronic medical waivers adjudication program and associated operational readiness systems.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for deployment medicine across the AFCENT AOR, leveraging direct experience managing medical readiness across Combatant Commands.
- Lead user training, workflow optimization, and readiness system adoption across Active Duty, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve, and Joint environments.
- Develop end-user documentation, clinical workflows, process guides, policies, and knowledge-transfer material for deployed medical systems.
- Conduct structured end-user requirements collections and feedback loops to inform system designs, improve functionality, and enhance real-world mission execution.
- Perform functional analysis to streamline operational medical workflows and improve data quality, accuracy, and interoperability across systems.
- Execute software testing, UAT, and operational field evaluations, documenting findings and informing enterprise readiness, deployment, and sustainment strategies.
- Support system sustainment and ensure continuity and integrity of medical and readiness data during technology transitions, system integration events, and platform decommissioning.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or related healthcare field
- 5+ years supporting and/or training Department electronic health record systems
- 5+ years providing direct patient care in a DoD medical environment, preferably with the United States Air Force
- Extensive experience supporting, training, and optimizing military HER and readiness platforms, including deployment medicine and joint medical documentation workflows
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise-wide medical readiness and waiver systems across Major Commands
- Proven involvement in systems acceptance testing, field testing, and evaluation efforts within the DoD
- Technical writing experience developing clinical workflows, readiness policies, user guides, and training materials
- Hands-on experience leading medical readiness program and clinical operations for deployed or forward-based units
- Active DoD Secret clearance
- Ability to travel throughout the CENTOCOM AOR and operate effectively in austere overseas environments
- Ability to obtain a U.S. passport and operate independently while deployed
Desired:
- Master’s degree in Nursing or related healthcare field
- Former DoD healthcare provider and instructor with expertise in deployment medicine and modernization of military health IT systems
- Experience with AHLTA-T, TC2/CHCS, MHS Genesis, and other enterprise military EHR platforms
- Experience with MEDXS deployment waivers system
- Led enterprise-wide rollout, training, and adoption of readiness and waiver system within the Air Force and Joint environment
- Experience with Agile collaboration tools, including Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, and SharePoint

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$95,500-$210,100
