* Ensures that existing procedures are understood and followed in regards to ordering, receiving, storage.
* Acts as a resource to management coordinators, clinical nurses, and Sterile Processing Department regarding special instrumentation.
* Initiates and/or supports workflow to control costs (i.e., staff development sessions, communication).
* Determines quantity and quality of instruments required for surgical procedures.
* Oversees cost-effective use of instrumentation.
* Determines systematic method for purchasing and/or repairing instrumentation.
* Creating & revising instrument trays/count sheets in instrument tracking system
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum two (2) years recent experience as Operating Room technician (certification preferred)in an acute case hospital setting.
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* Equivalent combination of education and experience with skills, knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties assigned to the position is necessary.
* Has knowledge in decontamination and reprocessing of instruments.
* Demonstrates ability to adjust to new situations and/or role requirements.
* Works effectively and communicates well with staff and management.
