About the Department

St Vincent’s Emergency Department is a challenging, dynamic environment with a diverse range of patient presentations. The department includes 2 resuscitation bays, behaviour assessment room, 16 acute cubicles, Fast Track Clinic and a short stay unit.

The Emergency Department consists of 47 treatment spaces including Resuscitation, Acute Cubicles, Fast Track, Short Stay, and a Crisis Resource Hub focusing on mental health & drug and alcohol presentations. The Emergency Department is a tertiary referral centre for Neurosurgery, Stroke, Cardiothoracic, Plastics & lower limb injuries.

About the Role

A Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse who has acquired the  expert  knowledge base, complex decision making skills and clinical competencies to prepare for expanded practice.  

The classification for this position will range between a NO1-NO2 ($143,208 - $145,927.60 base salary per annum, pro rata).

Duties

  • Demonstrates excellence in advanced clinical nursing practice
  • Delivers patient centred care and operates within a nursng model of holistic practice
  • Maintains a focus on best patient outcomes
  • Demonstrates developing competency within the scope of relevant, current and evidence based Clinical Practice Guidelines under the supervision/guidance of their Clinical Mentor
  • Conducting advanced comprehensive patient assessment

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Post Graduate Qualification in Emergency Nursing (or equivalent)
  • Masters Qualification in Emergency Nursing
  • AHPRA Certificate
  • Endorsed Nurse Practitioner or candidates pending AHPRA NP endorsement
  • A course of study and undertaken clinical experience that, in the opinion of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, qualifies the nurse to use the title Nurse Practitioner
