Rakuten

New Service Promotion, Rakuma - Rakuma Business Department (C&M)

Tokyo, Japan Full time

Job Description:

Department Overview

Rakuten Rakuma was established in 2012 during the dawn of flea market apps. (Fril was launched in 2012 and merged with the former Rakuma in 2018.) Over ten years have passed since flea market apps first emerged, yet their transaction volume and user base continue to expand.

Within this growth sector, Rakuma leverages Rakuten Group assets to provide benefits such as greater affordability, convenience, and a safe, secure user experience. Furthermore, Rakuma attracts a significant number of customers in their 10s to 30s within the Rakuten Group, and it also holds a high share of new Rakuten members. This positions Rakuma as crucial for acquiring new Rakuten members.

Position:
Why We Hire

While the flea market app market continues to expand, user concerns about authenticity verification, fair pricing, and transaction safety persist.

We aim to solve these challenges and update the norms of peer-to-peer transactions.

We go beyond being just a marketplace, expanding into new services like authentication and buyback to provide users with “peace of mind” and “value,” further broadening the potential of flea market apps.

This challenge will not only have a significant impact on the entire industry but will also be immensely rewarding for your own career.

Precisely because we are still in the middle of this journey, we are seeking motivated individuals who want to help us build the future of flea market apps together.

Attractiveness

‐ Impact on socially significant ventures:

Within the national service of flea market apps, alleviating user concerns and building a safer, more secure transaction environment allows you to tangibly feel the impact on society as a whole.

- Challenges during an overwhelming phase of business growth:

The flea market sector still holds significant growth potential. Planning and driving new ventures within this space offers invaluable growth opportunities unattainable elsewhere.

- Hands-on skills cultivated in a lean, elite team:

Working within a small organization allows deep involvement in the entire business advancement process—from planning and execution to measuring effectiveness and proposing improvements.

- Service planning leveraging Rakuten Group assets:

The unique thrill of Rakuten lies in creating unprecedented new services by cross-utilizing diverse assets: rich Rakuten member data, the points economy ecosystem, financial services, and more.
