Role Overview
The Network Operations Engineer is responsible for providing 1st and 2nd level technical operational support for TP ICAP’s global network infrastructure. As part of a global Network Operations team, the successful candidate will be a strong technical lead with excellent troubleshooting skills.
The Network Operations team is responsible for resolving day-to-day issues, incidents, problems and changes within the network estate. This will include incident diagnosis and management, repair and recovery, monitoring, problem management, root cause analysis and deployment on a number of network platforms.

Role Responsibilities
Support network incident and change activities in a 24x7 global operations team on assigned shift.
Troubleshoot and isolate network incidents within large-scale complex IT environments.
Proactively manage network components in order to prevent incidents.
Utilize all Network Monitoring and Management tools in an efficient and timely manner.
Support changes to the production network while following all required change procedures.
Process internal and external client requests for network changes in line with agreed policies and procedures.
Follow escalation procedures and process, recommend improvements when required.
Review, track and update network operations policies, standards, and processes.
Review production changes for adherence against agreed policy and best practices.
Work collaboratively with ICAP’s other IT infrastructure teams.
Fulfil any additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business
Experience / Competences
Essential
Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a network operations environment.
Excellent network troubleshooting experience.
Excellent working knowledge of Cisco hardware and configuration (IOS/NX-OS).
Good working knowledge of Fortinet firewall products
Good working knowledge of routing protocols in particular BGP, OSPF, EIGRP and PIM
Working knowledge of F5 load balancers
Experience of configuring and supporting VPN including SSL, GRE and IPSec.
Working knowledge of cloud technology. Ie; AWS
Experience of networking tools (e.g SolarWinds, Thousand Eyes, Corvil).
Awareness of ITIL processes (change control, incident management etc).
Skilled in Microsoft Office applications
Excellent customer service skills with an emphasis upon ownership and communication,
Enthusiastic about networking with a keen willingness to share knowledge and help peers
Robust appreciation of the impact and risk of changes in a business critical environment
Eager to learn and to ‘roll up sleeves’ in a busy environment
A pro-active approach to Service Management, focus on preventative to reactive support.
Shift left Continuous Improvement approach
2+ years’ experience in an operational role supporting global enterprise networks
Experience working in Financial Services, either directly or through a service provider
Knowledge and experience of ITIL working practices, including change management
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously working with minimal supervision
Good communication skills both verbal and written
Willingness to go above and beyond expectations
Demonstrates a resilient, positive and proactive attitude
Ability to work well in a team (experience of working in a global team preferred)
Educated to degree level in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience
Minimum Experienced Cisco CCNP or equivalent experience
Desired
Fortinet Certification and ITIL Foundation highly desirable
