Platinum Technologies is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer/Architect with subject matter expertise to support medium to large scale operations supporting the Department of War.
The Network Engineer/Architect SME supports operation and maintenance of current and modernized capabilities for the customer. This role will be responsible for technical requirement definition, implementations plans, as well as diagnosing and troubleshooting outages, monitoring networks, infrastructure and systems, and proving proactive mitigation strategies.
This position is on-site at Fort Belvoir, VA with the possibility of limited remote work.
*An active TS/SCI and DoD IAT Level II (Security+) is required.
What you get to do.
•Execute Tier 2 & 3 network operations ensuring stability and DoD security compliance.
•Monitor enterprise networks (SolarWinds, Cisco ISE, vendor GUIs).
•Develop and enforce operational procedures and escalation workflows.
•Serve as senior technical lead during outages, network events, and cyber incidents.
•Design and implement secure, consolidated network solutions.
•Identify and migrate legacy network paths; plan and document enterprise service transitions.
•Support DoD Configuration Management, CAB procedures, and STIG compliance.
•Develop network optimization and capacity strategies.
•Provide leadership and mentoring for junior engineers.
What you’ll bring.
•Active TS/SCI and DoD IAT Level II (Security+)
•Active CCNA certification
•Bachelor’s in STEM + 10–12 years’ experience (or equivalent experience)
•Strong background in LAN/WAN, IPv4/IPv6, VPN, IPSec, Firewalls, SD-WAN (Dell Versa preferred)
•Experience with Cisco, Juniper, F5, Aruba, Palo Alto, Dell, Brocade
•Proficient with Cisco ISE, AAA, and endpoint posturing
•Skilled in BGP, OSPF, EVPN, and enterprise network design
•Hands-on experience with SolarWinds, Cisco Catalyst Center, Ansible
•Excellent communication and documentation skills
•Experience in system hardening and DoD STIG implementation
Preferred Qualifications.
•STEM Bachelor’s degree with minimum 10-12 years of applicable Network Engineer experience. (Additional years of experience accepted in lieu of degree)
•CCIE-level knowledge base.
•Experience with DataCenter Cisco Nexus VXLAN.
•Experience working with automation tools, such as Ansible and Python scripting to build an Infrastructure as Code framework.
