Job Summary:

Works with the MSK physician to provide athletic training clinical support and perform Musculoskeletal Ultrasounds. Assists in the management of the MSK Ultrasound program in ensuring continuous education, improvement and patient centered care.

Job Duties:

  • Prepares patients for examination, explains procedures, and performs diagnostic ultrasounds.
  • Correlates patient’s clinical history with the test to be performed under the physician’s orders.
  • Selects proper transducer frequency and study type for performance of the examination.
  • Assists physician with ultrasound guided procedures (injections, PRP, Prolotherapy, and Tenex.
  • Participates with physicians in diagnostic impression.
  • Performs quality control tests of equipment and immediately notifies the technical specialist of irregularities.
  • Maintains Imaging/Data archiving.
  • Completes US exam in the US exam in the EXO system.
  • Image labeling and supporting documentation in EPIC.
  • Orients and educates new sonographers within the Sports Medicine Fellowship and Orthopaedic Residency.
  • Educates patients with home exercise programs and guides them through each exercise to ensure proper technique.
  • Prepares medications for injections and documents in the MAR system within EPIC.
  • Coordinates monthly ultrasound lectures amongst sports medicine and outlines topics and discussion.
  • Monitors ultrasound volume to ensure appropriate allocation of resources
  • Assists in monitoring ultrasound documentation and proper image capture
  • Works directly with the MSK Ultrasound Physician Director to provide programmatic guidance on innovation and teaching
  • Assists the Operations Director with strategic planning of new equipment, replacements, and program growth.
  • Provides in-services with new MSK Sonographers and continuous education for all under those under MSK Sonographer job description.
  • Documents ultrasound equipment malfunctions and calls service engineer when needed.

Position Details:

  • Hours 8:00am- 4:30pm

  • Required Experience: Two years of experience

  • Required Certifications: Must be Certified Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS), Certified Athletic Trainer and state license of PA, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree- (Required), Master's Degree- (Preferred)

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years-Related work experience (Required)

Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification - American Heart Association (AHA), Certified Athletic Trainer - Default Issuing Body, Certified Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
