Mortgage Operations Technical Project Manager | Sage Home Loans

Charlotte, NC Full Time

We are seeking a deadline-focused, inquisitive Mortgage Operations Senior Technical Project Manager to coordinate and deliver technical projects across all mortgage operations functions—including processing, underwriting, closing, funding, and servicing. This role sits at the intersection of business and technology, ensuring our tools, systems, and workflows are designed and executed with precision, scalability, and client impact in mind. You’ll be a key point of contact for cross-functional teams who rely on you to bring clarity, flow, and accountability to complex initiatives.

This is a highly visible role, offering exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to shape the technology that powers our mortgage operations. Success in this role requires an ownership mindset, a client-first approach, and the urgency to deliver on time—without compromising compliance or integrity.

This role requires a hybrid schedule and will be based in our South Charlotte, NC Headquarters (Tuesday through Thursday) and work fully remotely on Mondays and Fridays each week.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with mortgage operations leaders (processing, underwriting, servicing, and more) to design and deliver technical solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and client experience.
  • Use Asana to organize, track, and report on technical projects, creating project flow, timelines, and dashboards that keep work moving with speed and transparency.
  • Build out end-to-end processes for technology implementation, including requirements gathering, testing, deployment, and adoption—always ensuring borrower and teammate impact is considered first.
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings between technical and non-technical teams, driving alignment, managing dependencies, and tracking milestones with urgency and accountability.
  • Translate business needs into clear requirements, recommending creative process alternatives when needed and making sure outcomes reflect doing the right thing for clients and teammates.
  • Manage testing cycles for new technology releases and integrations, ensuring successful deployment with minimal disruption and maximum benefit.
  • Anticipate bottlenecks, escalate issues early, and negotiate trade-offs to protect deadlines while maintaining quality.
  • Prioritize incoming feature requests, balancing long-term strategic goals with urgent business needs to keep projects focused on impact.
  • Put systems in place to help teams self-organize—using dashboards, workflows, and reporting tools to create clarity and empower ownership.
  • Deliver continuous improvement by documenting lessons learned, questioning outdated processes, and leaving every project better than you found it.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of project management experience, preferably in mortgage operations.
  • Strong track record of managing multiple projects with competing timelines while delivering results quickly and accurately.
  • Hands-on experience with Asana (or similar PM tools like JIRA, Monday.com, Trello), using it to drive collaboration, accountability, and visibility.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and business stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to simplify complexity into clear project flows and deadlines.
  • Inquisitive, problem-solving mindset—able to ask the right questions, challenge assumptions, and propose better solutions.
  • Strong relationship builder with proven ability to influence across teams and levels.
  • Comfortable leading testing, launch, and adoption of new tech tools across multiple mortgage functions.
  • Passion for continuous improvement, ethical decision-making, and creating lasting positive impact for clients, teammates, and the business.
