Job Summary
Position responsible for supervising and managing all activities necessary for the maintenance of the budget. Recommends changes in budget systems and procedures. Provides guidance, support, and training to hospital and corporate staff. Typically reports to the Director in this department.Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting is required. Advanced degree preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: Certified Public Accountant preferred
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Five (5) to (7) years of budget or financial management experience
Experience with EPSI or similar budget software
Knowledge of net revenue, payroll and non-labor budgeting methodologies
Effective oral and written communication skills
Advanced level excel skills; Basic access database skills
Principal Accountabilities
Assists in the development and coordination of the annual budget process of the organization.
Ensures system maintenance and accuracy.
Supervises and manages financial management staff.
Hires, trains, evaluates, and disciplines staff as appropriate.
Provides assistance and documentation for staff in completion of their assignments.
Develops content and provides annual training for end users.
Oversees the daily activities of the department; develops and implements short and long term plans designed to achieve department objectives.
Prepares and oversees month end financial management responsibilities (monthly analysis)
Analyzes and ensures accuracy of reports produced by employees.
Prepares and reviews financial reports for all levels of management, summarizing and communicating pertinent information.
Develops policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient completion of tasks performed by staff.
Evaluates and recommends new/upgraded budget/financial management processes.
Coordinates special projects as needed.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
