Medical Laboratory Technologist
Full-Time I Third Shift

Description:
- Completes all required competencies, continuing education and learning modules.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served by the laboratory.
- Follows the guidelines set forth by all regulatory agencies.
- Maintains a safe and efficient working environment by performing equipment checks, cleaning work areas, and monitoring temperatures in accordance to regulatory agencies and policies.
- Recognizes and troubleshoots malfunctions of advanced technological equipment and initiates corrective action.
- Reads and signs all new/revised Standard Operating Policies and Procedures and required reading in the designated timeframe.
- Demonstrates competency/proficiency in the job specific functions.
- Performs all procedures and functions in accordance with Baptist Health Lexington hospital and laboratory policies.
- Maintains technical competency as related to the job functions.
- Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job-related hazards, and national patient safety goals.
- Understands pertinent LIS functions and performs downtime procedures effectively.
- Follows all required laboratory safety regulations including personal protective equipment, infection control policies and chemical hygiene plan according to OSHA and regulatory requirements.
- Investigates, documents and follows-up all complaints in a timely manner.
Requirements:
- Associate degree.
- Certified or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science by recognized certifying agencies.
- Clinical Laboratory Science Certified within 1 year.
