The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Company is seeking a Mechanical and Structural Engineering Manager to lead the T-7A Subsystems Engineering team in Berkeley, MO.
The manager will lead development of new capability through non‑recurring Engineering (NRE), and support production and the customer fleet through sustaining Engineering. This position reports to the Air Vehicle Senior Manager on the T‑7A Program in the Air Dominance division of Boeing Defense Systems.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead, manage and develop Engineering staff performing Electrical, Environmental Control Systems (ECS), Hydraulic Actuation, Landing Gear, Equipment Design, and Subsystems Strength Engineering activities.
Provide technical leadership, approve technical approaches, and set Engineering standards and processes for the Subsystems team.
Drive process improvements and Engineering best practices (requirements flow‑down, design reviews, verification & validation).
Establish staffing plans; partner with other Engineering managers and program managers to execute recruiting, onboarding and workforce forecasting. Manage team size and budget.
Identify training needs and enable professional development opportunities (technical training, certifications, leadership development).
Execute project plans, support schedule, cost and risk management; collaborate with program management on earned value and program performance.
Lead and support design reviews, analysis, simulation, component/system testing, and supplier deliverable reviews to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
Lead root cause analysis and corrective action for Engineering errors and producibility challenges to support internal and external production.
Support troubleshooting and resolution of operational anomalies and sustainment actions for the fielded fleet.
Support Developmental Test & Evaluation (DT&E) at Edwards Air Force Base and Initial Operational Test & Evaluation (IOT&E) at Randolph AFB, and other test ranges as required; occasional travel to test sites is expected.
Establish and maintain relationships with customers, stakeholders, suppliers, and cross‑functional teams (Structures, Systems Integration, Manufacturing, Quality, Certification).
Ensure compliance with program policies, safety, and security procedures.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required
Travel to flight test sites and supplier/partner locations is required; typical travel is up to 10%.
Minimum 5+ years of Engineering experience.
Minimum 3+ years of experience in aircraft systems or structural Engineering
Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and delivering Engineering products to schedule.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
10+ years of full‑time aerospace industry experience within mechanical systems, aircraft subsystems, or structural Engineering.
1+ years of formal management experience leading Engineering teams.
Experience with Project Management, Earned Value Management (EVM), and program financial metrics.
Experience with aircraft certification processes (FAA, MIL‑STD, DoD certification requirements).
Demonstrated experience supporting DT&E and IOT&E and working at flight test ranges (Edwards AFB, Randolph AFB).
Proficiency with analysis and design tools (FEA: Nastran/ANSYS/HyperWorks; CAD: CATIA or NX; MATLAB/Simulink; systems Engineering tools).
Familiarity with structural loads, stress analysis, fatigue/durability, fracture mechanics, and subsystems integration.
Experience with supplier management, producibility assessments, and corrective action processes.
Strong talent development, recruitment, and staffing forecasting experience.
Active or prior U.S. security clearance preferred.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $132,600 - $179,400
