Position Summary:

Do you have an analytical or problem-solving attitude and you’re looking for an opening within the engineering space? Thermofisher Scientific are currently on the lookout for an ambitious Maintenance Engineer. As a site Maintenance Engineer, you will interact with several departments to ensure that our manufacturing process continues to deliver world class products as efficiently as possible through efficient preventative maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing areas. You will deliver manufacturing targets by ensuring the manufacturing equipment maintained to a world class standard. The maintenance group will assist in projects to deliver quality, efficiency, safety, and cost reductions.

The shift pattern will be a 40-hour working week, on average, with core business hours being from Monday 6am to Friday 10pm.

The pattern is a 2-week rotating early shift pattern (6am to 6pm) with Week 1 working days being Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday and Week 2 being Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday.

Additionally, there is a week of backshift (1:30pm to 10pm- Monday to Thursday) in rotation every six weeks.  

There may be a requirement for additional overtime shifts at weekends or night-shifts.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure manufacturing process equipment is available and maintained to the accurate standard.

  • Complete crucial preventative maintenance tasks and carry out routine inspection on site facilities equipment.

  • Assist with the repair of equipment to ensure day to day manufacturing issues are resolved and actioned in a timely manner.

  • Participate in multi-functional projects taking on and delivering specific actions and tasks.

  • Support site improvement initiatives such as 5S, to help improve standards across site.

  • Work with other departments to develop and improve current process equipment standards to deliver change.

  • Represent the Engineering department at improvement events such as Kaizens and major site projects.

  • Work with external vendors such as insurance inspectors and external contractors to support site requirements.

  • Act as a role model for Health and Safety, issuing Permits to Work and participating in Safety improvements.

Experience, skills & abilities required:

  • Experience working in a medical device manufacturing environment or cGMP manufacturing environment. (Will also consider candidates from FMCG, Food processing or Distillery)

  • Previous experience of working within a team delivering projects deliverable's is desirable.

  • Mechanical Bias is preferred.

Other desired experience:

  • Good knowledge of process and equipment maintenance.

  • Hands on experience of manufacturing equipment maintenance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
