US Valve is seeking a proactive and technically skilled Mechanical Engineer II to join our Engineering team. We manufacture high-performance check valves assembled in our Linthicum, MD facility, serving critical applications across industrial, commercial, and specialty markets. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a cross-functional environment and is passionate about improving systems, supporting internal stakeholders, and driving quality. The ideal candidate will serve as a key contributor to our QMS, production and purchasing support, and special engineering projects. This position is scoped for someone with leadership potential, capable of growing into a future leadership role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Product Lifecycle Management and Change Management
Own the Product Lifecycle Management of multiple product lines, across three brands of check valves. Initiate and manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs). Together with internal stakeholders work to implement ECOs. Ensure traceability and compliance of all engineering changes. Own the Product Document Management (PDM); together with the Engineering team and external contractors ensure all product documentation needed to support sourcing and operations are indexed, revised, and updated. Implement and maintain PDM systems to ensure stakeholders can reliably access current and accurate design and product data. Create and maintain accurate engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, and specifications. Own the creation and maintenance of product data within ERP system including item record setup, item record maintenance, BOM setup, BOM updates, and obsolescence management.
Project Management
Lead multi-level engineering projects involving cross-functional teams, complex product change efforts, product production readiness initiatives, compliance/regulatory projects, and research and development undertakings. Develop and maintain project schedules, deliverables, and technical reviews. Coordinate resources, manage risks, and ensure timely execution of project milestones. Lead or support initiatives such as new sourcing and supplier qualification.
Quality Management System (QMS)
Act as the document administrator of the QMS document control system. Coordinate with external consultants to schedule and support audits. Guide departments on creation and maintenance of QMS documents to support their disciplines. Support internal audit readiness and lead corrective action implementation. Develop and maintain processes and records to support regulatory approvals including NSF, PED, CRN, national codes, and/or military specifications.
Cross-Functional Support
Provide technical support to Purchasing, including drawings and assisting with vendor technical inquiries. Support Production with BOM accuracy, work instructions, and troubleshooting efforts. Respond to engineering-related questions from internal stakeholders including production, quality, and supply chain teams. Collaborate with Supply Chain and Operations to resolve part and process issues. Provide engineering input during customer discussions and proposal development.
Product Development & Improvement
Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and the broader Engineering team to translate customer requirements into technical solutions to market demand. Execute iterative design changes to improve existing products. Support new product development efforts by participating in concept generation, prototyping, testing, and validation activities. Support manufacturability, testability, and serviceability improvements. Perform calculations and analyses related to fluid flow, stress, and performance. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in engineering and production. Provide sustaining engineering support for existing products, including design updates, cost reduction initiatives, and quality improvements.

Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and engineering documentation. Experience with 3D modeling software and ERP systems (Solidworks and Oracle JDE preferred). Familiarity with QMS systems and audit processes. Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional engineering projects. Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. 6-15 years of relevant engineering experience

Total Rewards
The compensation range for this position is $83,800.00 - $125,800.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.Benefits Package
