Key Individual Accountabilities

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for accurately identifying, cataloguing, and interpreting parts. This role ensures that the correct parts are documented and accessible for the order desk team to transact against. The individual will work closely with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations, excellent customer service, and precise data management related to parts inventory.

• Part Identification & Interpretation: Identify and interpret parts and components based on technical specifications, drawings and manuals in support of the FLS installation base. Liaise with Product experts, Engineering, Customers, Suppliers and Manufacturers to obtain part specifications and verify accuracy.

• Sourcing & Vendor Identification: Utilize predefined sourcing plans and or liaise with regional sourcing to determine appropriate vendors to approach.

• Vendor RFQ Request & Selection: Utilize the regional procurement organization, secure vendor quotes and final selection.

• Part Cataloguing & Data Management: Catalogue parts into the ERP system complete with drawing references, PSP’s, sell prices and product typology determined.

• Customer Support: Provide technical support to customers by helping them identify the correct parts for their needs.  Where appropriate, respond to customer inquiries, offering recommendations or solutions based on their requirements.  Process orders and quotes as needed.

 

Interface with Internal Stake Holders:  

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with procurement, product experts, and Engineering to ensure solutions provided to the Order Desk team (parts catalogued for orders and quotes).
• Builds working relationships with and solicits technical feedback from internal teams
• Writes technical procedures, reports, and correspondence
• Gathers and documents machine descriptions and system requirements with low to medium complexity
• Provides technical assistance to internal departments
• Revises previously published materials, as directed
• Creates and modifies illustrations for instruction manuals
• Observes and executes all job responsibilities in accordance with established company policies, procedures, and FLS standards
• Implements improvements to team business processes
• Promotes a culture of personal and team safety, including others who may be affected by the company’s operational activities

 

What you bring

  • You are an engineer or have a comparable background.
  • Your previous career has provided you with experience within the cross field of technical sales and customer relations.
  • You are used to foreseeing and solving potential problems.
  • You are proactive and have a structured approach to your tasks, enabling you to handle several cases at a time.
  • You have a cross-cultural understanding and can communicate with people of different nationalities and professional backgrounds.

Experience

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in techno-commercial positions.
  • Experience in Engineering / Design / structural knowledge in plants equipment's will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in Procurement preferred.
