The range for this role is $21.39 - $27.64.
Actual base pay will be determined based on a successful candidate's work location, skills/abilities, experience, and education.

The Job
The Maternity Specialist plays a vital role in supporting Medi-Share members throughout their pregnancy journey. In this position, you will serve as a trusted resource, guiding members through maternity-related provisions outlined in the member-voted guidelines.
Responsibilities would include engaging with maternity members to provide personalized support, communicating maternity provisions clearly and compassionately, assisting members in navigating in-network options and collaborating closely with our Network Management team, and ensuring a positive and empathetic experience for every member interaction.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Identifies and solves critical maternal and infant time-sensitive issues with urgency and accuracy to include resolution of barriers to care
- Evaluates for and resolves real and potential financial risks to include global billing practices and service issues consisting of escalations, penalty waivers, and discount disputes; escalates anything with the potential to do harm to the membership or ministry to appropriate stakeholders
- Develops, maintains, and applies a thorough working knowledge of standard maternity medical billing practices, healthcare customer service practices, internal business rules, and departmental administrative functions to foster a positive member experience using the Medi-Share program for their maternity event
- Educates members planning for and experiencing a maternity event (to include pregnancy, miscarriage, and stillborn) on the Medi-Share maternity provisions, and utilization of appropriate resources i.e. the member center
- Confirms that a member’s pregnancy is eligible for sharing, initiating medical reviews as needed, and suggests resources for those maternities not eligible
- Collaborates with the Cost Management Program Specialist to identifies and educate members on benefits of cost-saving options.
- Assesses members needing additional support outside of the scope of the Specialist’s role and refers member to the clinical team
- Ensures the member maternity booklet reflects current maternity information; requests distribution as needed
- Documents case work, all telephone conversations, correspondence, and tasks completely and accurately in appropriate IT systems
- Meets service level agreements for assigned workload (SF and CSI queues, Outlook) and assists Care Management Associates as needed.
- Completes maternity-related special projects independently to include reviewing training material for other team members and other departments pertaining to maternity.
- Prays with members and providers as appropriate
- Attends all required department and organization meetings
- Contribute to the exercise and expression of Christian Care Ministry’s Christian beliefs

Essential Skills & Abilities
- Expert knowledge of all maternity program guidelines and processes
- Advanced skill with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent ability to communicate effectively in written, oral, telephonic, and digital formats that build engagement, interest, and facilitate positive outcomes
- Excellent computer skills – ability to access, research and use multiple software programs simultaneously and keyboard skills of at least 35 words per minute
- Advanced planning and organizational skills; works effectively without supervision
- Ability to comply with HIPAA, PHI, and all call compliance rules and regulations
- Ability to work independently and with a team regularly.
- Excellent ability to provide all content within a biblical framework

Education and/or Experience
- Associate degree or higher in business, healthcare, or other related field or a combination of education and experience required.
- 3+ years of medical billing or administrative experience in a medical office/facility required and/or certificate level education (or greater) in medical billing and/or medical terminology strongly preferred.
- Obstetrics experience strongly preferred.
