Materials Supervisor

Role Summary
This functional supervisor role is responsible for inventory and supply chain supervision of the Springville site in support of the site’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and all associated performance objectives. This role will have a focus on reducing inventory, facilitating Plan for Every Part (PFEP), supplier OTD, supplier negotiations, and sourcing cost reduction. This role will liaise with the quality team to improve supplier quality and reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) in the facility. The supervisor will ensure cross functional cohesiveness and collaborate daily with production and planning teams. This leadership role must demonstrate and coach enterprise leadership mindset behaviors while developing and mentoring others within the department.

Location: Springville, UT. 100% work from office.

Responsibilities

  • Track and improve site KPIs for inventory, including obsolete and slow moving, PPV, clear to build, DSI and sourcing savings
  • Facilitate and oversee critical supply-site quality issues between Operations, Engineering, Customers and Suppliers as required. Support and lead NCR, CAR, and capacity/lead-time improvement initiatives for locally managed suppliers (and coordinate with the Supplier Performance Group for centrally managed suppliers).
  • Work with platform and GSC cross-functional teams to support & drive sourcing initiatives to reduce costs, rationalize supply base and leverage new technologies.
  • Manage the team of Buyers who are responsible for acting on order suggestions (requisition or other) and exception messages generated by MRP system.
  • Manage the warehouse team to create and sustain standard work, improve cross training and skills matrix, efficiency improvements and technological advancements
  • Manage supplier performance (on-time delivery and quality) for site specific deliveries and suppliers
  • Work with engineering and product management on new product sourcing and solutions, CORE initiatives and EOL inventory management
  • Maintain risk registers and AIM database for casting patterns
  • Maintain forecasting and contractual coverage for site managed suppliers
     

Requirements

  • Planning and/or Purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem solving
  • ERP / Excel proficiency

Preferred Experience/ Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain.  For internal FLS candidates, seven years of leadership experience in an engineered manufacturing business may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience and knowledge in industry standards organizations and forums.
  • Working experience in Oracle
  • Pursuit of Professional Accreditation (PMA, ASQ, CSCP, CPM)
  • CIP Green Belt training and/or Lean Manufacturing experience.
