Job Summary: About the Position: The Materials Handler performs a variety of warehouse tasks for the Dining Facilities Kitchen and Supply section within Nutrition Care Services at Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, NC. Working hours for this position are 0630-1530

Major Duties:

  • Verify quantities received against receiving documents for accuracy.
  • Reject receipts of items not acceptable due to damage, quality or other reason.
  • Store food items according to space plans and special storage requirements.
  • Monitor temperatures of refrigerator and/or freezer units.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to common tasks including unloading palleted goods into storage spaces; documenting quantities, shortages, and/or overages of received items; I am skilled in considering size, shape, quantity, and/or perishability of stored items. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) PHYSICAL EFFORT: Incumbent performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require him to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Maybe required to work at a rapid place for long periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing 25-50 pounds or heavier items with assistance. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside warehouses, bin rooms, open storage areas, receiving and shipping areas, which may be cold, drafty, damp, or hot.
