Job Summary:
The Materials Coordinator is responsible for the efficient and accurate movement of materials throughout Viavi Solutions' operations, ensuring timely delivery to production lines and managing inventory levels to support manufacturing schedules.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Job Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and store incoming materials and components, verifying against purchase orders and identifying any discrepancies or damages.
- Issue materials to production orders, ensuring correct quantities and part numbers are provided to manufacturing personnel.
- Perform regular cycle counts and assist with physical inventory to maintain accurate inventory records and identify variances.
- Utilize an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for inventory transactions, material tracking, and data entry.
- Coordinate with purchasing, production, and shipping departments to optimize material flow and resolve any material-related issues.
- Prepare and package materials for shipment, adhering to company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Operate various material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the warehouse and storage areas.
- Identify and report potential material shortages, quality issues, or process improvements to supervision.
- May assist in the training of new material handlers or less experienced coordinators.
Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:
Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 2-4 years of experience in a material handling, warehousing, or logistics role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in the use of an ERP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for inventory management and material transactions.
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack) with certification preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in counting, recording, and verifying materials.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly and stand for extended periods.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving material issues.
