Job Description
Key responsibilities:
Independently design, plan, organize, perform and document analytical experiments using state-of-the art equipment (e.g. LC-MS, HPLC) in the scope of analytical protein characterization with a special focus on mass spectrometry.
Documentation as well as review/approval of raw data, evaluation and interpretation of results.
Take over responsibility for analytical equipment or specialized facilities as an expert; schedule and perform maintenance and qualification of instruments.
Work according to appropriate standards for quality, ethics, health, safety, environment protection, and information security as well as lead initiatives to ensure continuous improvement.
Write protocols, scientific reports or procedures independently.
Develop new methods or optimize existing ones and contribute to the implementation of new technologies.
Conduct information and literature searches and facilitate knowledge exchange.
Interact and collaborate with other groups and sites according to project and method requirements; lead other associates for dedicated scientific tasks and provide guidance as well as training.
Participate in or lead function-specific sub-teams and fulfil assigned project tasks as well as responsibilities.
Essential Requirements:
University degree (preferably PhD) in a relevant area (e.g., Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or equivalent), and experience in mass spectrometry.
A personality with a can-do mentality, adaptability to changes, and enthusiasm for digitalization and process automation.
Excellent knowledge of analytical approaches and practical experience in handling complex analytical equipment for biopharmaceuticals, specifically LC-MS hands-on experience.
Excellent in MS data evaluation software (e.g., Xcalibur, Genedata Expressionist, Chromeleon, PEAKS, Skyline) and computer tools, employing a digital working style.
Proficient with laboratory and/or technical equipment, e.g., Orbitrap LC-MS Systems.
Proficient scientific/technical writing and presentation skills.
Operates with a Future-Ready/Digital First mindset, leveraging data, digital tools, and emerging technologies to improve decision‑ making, accelerate development, and maintain‑ compliance.
Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English; knowledge of German is a plus.
Desirable Requirements:
Broad knowledge in protein/peptide/glycan separation approaches (i.e. chromatographic, various modes).
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and R.

In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is € 65,605.54 a year (on a full-time basis). The actual salary will be significantly higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications and individual competencies.
