We strive to create global tools to support markets and brands to deliver their shape of A&P in a productive manner.

The Martech Solution Architect – Content Lead ensures the right content technologies are in place, integrated, and optimized to deliver effective, secure, and scalable content workflows and assets across the customer journey.

This includes ownership of solutions such as DAM, MAM, PIM, Virtual Content Studio (VCS) for creative adaptation and transcreation enabled by AI, creative review and optimisation platforms, and marketing creative planning and deployment systems. This role bridges creative ambition with technical execution—ensuring content capabilities deliver efficiency, reusability, global scalability, and impactful brand storytelling.

Top Accountabilities:

Technology Roadmaps, Architecture & Design

  • Define and maintain content architecture roadmaps across DAM, MAM, PIM, and VCS, aligned with Engine and Product leads and broader Martech architecture.
  • Lead the technical architecture for VCS and AI-enabled creative generation and optimisation tools.
  • Select appropriate architecture frameworks (e.g., microservices, event-driven, cloud-native) to ensure interoperability and scalability across content systems.
  • Translate creative and marketing requirements into architecture patterns, technical solutions and system blueprints.
  • Ensure secure and efficient orchestration of content across creation, approval, storage, and distribution platforms.

System Integration & Data Flows

  • Architect end-to-end integration across content tools (DAM, MAM, VCS, PIM) with marketing, commerce, media, and analytics platforms.
  • Enable bi-directional content flows between brand teams, agency partners, and publishing endpoints.
  • Collaborate with data engineering to enrich creative assets with metadata and taxonomy for search, personalization, and insights.

Tool Evaluation & Stack Rationalization

  • Evaluate and recommend content management and optimisation tools that enhance speed-to-market, content reuse, and consumer impact.
  • Maintain relationships with technology vendors and assess their roadmaps to align with Diageo’s content strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate tools and reduce platform complexity and cost.

Governance, Privacy & Compliance

  • Ensure content systems and associated data comply with IP, privacy, rights usage, and brand safety regulations.
  • Implement standards for metadata, tagging, asset expiration, and consent management.
  • Collaborate with Legal and Compliance to audit and validate content workflows and storage.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Creative, Brand, Media, and Agency teams to ensure content architecture supports creative planning and deployment needs.
  • Work closely with Product and Tech Leads to integrate content systems into broader Martech workflows.
  • Align with Enterprise Architects and D&T to ensure consistent and compliant architecture delivery.

Performance Optimization & Scalability

  • Monitor system performance across content platforms and implement performance tuning as needed.
  • Design scalable architecture to handle increasing content formats, channels, and localisation demands.
  • Support growth of AI-based creative tools, asset intelligence, and performance-driven content personalisation.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

  • Produce and maintain architectural documentation, including diagrams, content flow maps, integration specs, and security models.
  • Lead architecture reviews and share best practices across global content and Martech teams.

Qualifications and experiences:

  • 10+ years of experience in IT or software architecture, with at least 5 years focused on content technologies in a marketing context.
  • Strong domain expertise across DAM, MAM, PIM, VCS, content orchestration, and AI-driven content production.
  • Experience integrating creative tools and content systems with media, campaign, and digital experience platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of metadata standards, content lifecycle management, and digital rights enforcement.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, with a track record of partnering across Creative, Marketing, Tech, and Agency teams.
  • Ability to articulate technical concepts to both creative and technical audiences.
