Role Overview

The Marketing Engine Data Scientist role is responsible for analyzing complex data sets to deliver actionable insights that drive strategic business decisions. This role requires strong analytical skills, an aptitude for translating data into business value, and the ability to collaborate across diverse functional teams—including sales, marketing, business intelligence, and digital organizations.

To succeed, you’ll need a natural curiosity and a thirst for learning, enabling you to quickly understand Zoetis’s business model and data infrastructure. You should be comfortable connecting business context to technical solutions, and passionate about solving critical business challenges through advanced analytics. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and possesses strong independent problem-solving skills. You’ll communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.

  

Key Responsibilities

Campaign Targeting & Analysis

  • Partner with digital marketing and brand managers to define and segment target audiences for campaigns.
  • Design, extract, and refine campaign lists using advanced data science and Gen AI techniques.
  • Analyze campaign performance and outcomes, delivering actionable recommendations to maximize ROI and optimize future targeting strategies.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Serve as a trusted advisor, translating technical findings into clear, actionable business insights.
  • Present complex analyses to both technical and non-technical audiences, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships across marketing, sales, and other functional teams.

Advanced Analytics & Model Development

  • Develop and implement predictive models, segmentation, and time series analyses to support marketing strategies.
  • Apply Gen AI frameworks and large language models to drive personalization and campaign effectiveness.
  • Continuously monitor and refine models to ensure accuracy, relevance, and business impact.

Technical Leadership

  • Utilize Python, PySpark, Databricks, Gen AI frameworks, and SQL for data processing, analysis, and modeling.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure robust, scalable data pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Champion best practices in code quality, reproducibility, documentation, and version control (Git).
  • (Bonus) Apply software engineering skills to streamline analytic workflows and deploy solutions.

Education & Experience

  • Advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years’ experience in analytics, data science, or decision support, ideally in commercial or marketing environments.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with business stakeholders to deliver actionable insights and drive measurable results.
  • Hands-on experience with campaign analytics, predictive modeling, Gen AI/LLMs, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Familiarity with data engineering concepts and cloud analytics platforms (Databricks, etc.) is a plus.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Technical Skills

  • Programming: Expert in Python and PySpark; strong SQL skills; experience with Databricks.
  • Gen AI: Practical experience with Gen AI frameworks, tools, and large language models for data analysis and personalization.
  • Version Control: Proficient with Git for collaborative code development and management.
  • Data Engineering: Experience building and maintaining data pipelines; knowledge of cloud data platforms.
  • Analytics: Skilled in predictive modeling, segmentation, time series analysis, and Gen AI/LLM applications.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Software Engineering (Preferred): Experience with code versioning, testing, and deployment.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000 - $181,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the base pay target range for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

 

This position is also eligible for short-term incentive compensation
