We’re looking for a strategic, customer-obsessed, and results-driven Marketing Director to lead customer and commercial growth at British Gas. This is a pivotal role at a time of major transformation in the energy sector – a moment that brings real opportunity. You’ll help shape the future of one of the UK’s most iconic brands, powered by a bold new platform and the freedom to make a real impact.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll lead the creation and execution of go-to-market strategies that bring our products and services to life – in ways that truly connect with our customers and those we’d love to be our customers. Partnering closely with our product and commercial teams, you’ll develop customer-first propositions grounded in data and insight, shaping everything from campaign planning to performance optimisation.
You’ll own performance marketing, SEO, and commercial partnerships for British Gas, managing budgets with a sharp eye on ROI. You’ll build strong relationships across teams and our agency partners, and lead a talented marketing team – keeping them motivated, inspired and empowered to deliver exceptional work.

You’ll champion customer-led propositions and bring them to life through standout campaigns and partnerships that elevate both our brand and our results.
As a brilliant and experienced Marketing Director, you’ll have a proven track record of:
Growth Marketing: Strong and demonstrable experience in driving growth
Strategic Vision: The ability to develop and implement long-term marketing strategies that align with the overall business goals and drive growth
Leadership and Team Management: Proven experience in leading and inspiring high-performing marketing teams, providing mentorship, and fostering a collaborative environment
Customer-Centric Approach: A deep understanding of customer needs and behaviours, with the ability to create customer-centric marketing propositions and enhance customer experiences
Digital Marketing Expertise: Proficiency in digital marketing channels, including SEO, SEM, social media, and content marketing, to drive online visibility and engagement
Performance Marketing: Expertise in designing and executing performance marketing strategies aimed at customer acquisition, retention, and maximising ROI
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyse data, market trends, and customer insights to inform marketing decisions and optimise strategies
Proposition Development: Experience in collaborating with product teams to create and refine customer-led propositions that meet consumer demands
Market Analysis: The ability to monitor and analyse market trends, competitive landscape, and customer insights to stay ahead of industry developments
Budget Management: Proficiency in managing marketing budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources, and maximising return on investment
Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including internal teams, external partners, and customers
Innovation and Creativity: The ability to think creatively and innovatively to develop unique marketing campaigns and strategies that differentiate the brand and drive growth
Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing market conditions and business needs, demonstrating flexibility and resilience.
