The Level 3 Manufacturing Engineer (2nd Shift) provides engineering leadership and hands-on redline support to ensure continuous production for Inlet Lipskin and Section 47 Floor Grid Assembly. Primary focus is on rapid redline implementation, temporary workaround validation, and issuance of controlled manufacturing data so 2nd-shift operations can continue safely and compliant.

Key Responsibilities
•    Execute and validate redline markups on work packages to enable immediate production continuance.

 Ability to work 2nd shift hours (must specify shift hours), including occasional overtime and on-call availability for urgent production issues.
•    Create, approve (as delegated), and distribute interim work instructions, CAD redline sketches, and traveler updates within PDM/CAPP II/CMES workflows for 2nd shift.
•    Provide immediate technical containment for shop-floor issues: define and document temporary fixes, locate alternate tooling/fixtures, and verify fit/function to prevent production stoppage.
•    Use CAPP II to launch updated travelers, capture in-process verifications, and record redline-driven deviations or temporary approvals.
•    Coach and audit 2nd-shift operators/technicians on correct use of redline information and ensure traceability of temporary changes.
•    Maintain rigorous documentation and compliance with quality systems (AS9100) when using temporary redline actions.
Preferred Experience
•    Demonstrated ability to work independently on non-standard hours with strong ownership of shift responsibilities.
•    Experience supporting multiple production lines or programs simultaneously.
•    Effective communication across shifts and with day-shift stakeholders.
•    Experience editing/issuing routing/work instruction changes in CAPP II to reflect redline-driven temporary process steps.
•    Proficiency with CAPP II to deploy interim travelers, collect verification data, and close redline change loops on the shop floor.
•    Assembly experience, composite and metallic structure.
•    Metal forming and processing.

Shift & Operational Notes

  • Primary shift: 2nd shift (specify hours). Role requires rapid decision-making, floor-level troubleshooting, and frequent coordination with operations, quality, and day-shift engineering teams.
  • Must be able to document temporary changes so compliance and traceability are maintained until formal changes are released.
  • Occasional overtime/on-call for urgent production-stopping issues.


Basic Qualifications
•  Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on manufacturing or sustaining engineering experience in aerospace or complex assemblies (composite and metallic structures preferred).
