Job Description Summary

We are seeking an experienced and driven Manager Systems Engineering to lead our systems engineering team within the Radiopharmacy segment in Uppsala Sweden.

Systems Engineering has design responsibility to deliver customer workflow, feature functionality, product quality, reliability, serviceability, manufacturability, regulatory, compliance, and cost. Activities include system conception, system analysis, requirements development, traceability and flow down, architecture / system design, FMEA, system integration, system optimization, developing/executing System Verification and Validation test procedures, and providing support to manufacturing and field issues.

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets user needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.

The team is based in Uppsala, Sweden, with a few remote team members. You will work closely with peer engineering functions, namely software engineering, hardware engineering, service engineering and radiochemistry, as well as production teams, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of high-quality and compliant products, at cost and performance, and on-time compliant systems.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Systems Design team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.

  • Provide strategic and hands-on technical guidance in the development of RP products.

  • Balance competing priorities and feedback from stakeholders to drive direction and maintain project momentum.

  • Facilitate clear communication and decision-making across functional boundaries.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the full RP portfolio – cyclotrons, chemistry boxes and hot-cells.

  • Oversee engineering planning and execution to support project planning and execution, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.

  • Resource assignment and prioritization including headcount and budget management

  • Integrate Quality Management System Processes with effective functional engineering practices (e.g. : Six Sigma, Lean, Technical Design Review Rigor, System modeling, design standards & tools) for improved product quality and reliability.

  • Working with Product Management and Program Management to refine requirements Decision making in cross-disciplinary and architectural aspects.

  • Support Program Managers in execution of projects within time and schedule constraints.

  • Oversee system-level engineering activities including; Requirements handling, analysis, and traceability, - System architecture and design and Verification and validation planning and execution.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards and internal quality systems.

  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and tools.

  • Support audits and regulatory inspections as a subject matter expert.

  • Represent the System Design section in global engineering forums and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Physics, Electrical Mechanical Engineering or other closely related fields 

  • Independent Leader by Nature.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task

  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and results orientation 15+ years experience in leading cross-disciplinary engineering teams in design and development of multi-disciplinary systems, of which 5+ years in direct people leadership.

  • Requirements management and traceability tools and methodologies.

  • Verification and validation processes.

  • Fluent in English; Swedish proficiency is a plus.

Desired Qualifications

Regulatory frameworks and standards including:

  • ISO 13485 (Medical Device QMS)

  • ISO/IEC 15288 (Systems Engineering Lifecycle)

  • Swedish Work Environment Act (Arbetsmiljölagen)

  • Background in medical device development or radiopharmaceuticals or other areas with many regulatory requirements.

  • Proven LEAN skills Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing and quality of outcomes
