Position Overview

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a high-performing team of software engineers in building scalable, reliable, and efficient web applications and microservices for our News and Competitive Data Analysis Platform. You will play a key role in shaping system architecture, driving engineering best practices, and fostering a culture of technical excellence.

In this role, you will manage engineering execution end-to-end—from strategic planning to hands-on technical oversight—while mentoring and developing your team. Your deep expertise in Python, Django, React, Apache Solr, RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, and other NoSQL cloud databases will directly influence the technical strategy and long-term evolution of our SaaS platform.

You will partner closely with Product, Design, and DevOps teams to ensure engineering efforts align with business priorities and deliver measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Delivery

  • Demonstrate strong technical leadership across multiple teams by delivering high-quality, scalable, and performant software solutions.

  • Provide architectural direction and promote engineering excellence across backend, frontend, and distributed services.

  • Identify and address critical system pain points, proposing solutions that improve reliability, maintainability, and performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and key business stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions that meet strategic goals.

  • Influence engineering culture, processes, and cross-team collaboration with confidence and clarity.

Team Development & Mentorship

  • Serve as an experienced mentor—guiding engineers through technical challenges, career development, and skill-building.

  • Conduct constructive code reviews, enforce coding standards, and ensure adherence to best practices in software development.

System Performance & Architecture

  • Redesign and optimize backend worker nodes for distributed tasks such as crawling and real-time notifications.

  • Drive database and search performance improvements across PostgreSQL (self-hosted & Cloud SQL) and Apache Solr.

  • Oversee and refine the adoption of cloud-managed services, including the transition to GCP-managed CloudSQL.

Cloud & Infrastructure

  • Partner with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure reliable CI/CD, deployment pipelines, monitoring, and system observability.

  • Lead and strategize the product’s end-to-end cloud migration from GCP to AWS.

What You Need to Succeed

  • 10+ years of experience in software development, including 2+ years in an engineering leadership role.

  • Strong hands-on expertise in Python (Django, Celery) and JavaScript/React.

  • Deep understanding of RabbitMQ, distributed task orchestration, and event-driven architectures.

  • Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL ecosystems—including PostgreSQL, Apache Solr, and cloud-based databases.

  • Experience designing scalable architectures, distributed systems, and high-throughput worker systems.

  • Knowledge of NLP and Semantic Search concepts (preferred).

  • Familiarity with DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure).

  • Strong grounding in code quality, performance optimization, and security best practices.

  • Ability to influence stakeholders, drive technical innovation, and lead engineering teams with clarity and integrity.
