Overview:
The Africa Division is looking for a Manager, Risk Management to oversee Mastercard East Africa’s Risk Business Unit and will be responsible for supporting the Coordination and implementation of the Company’s risk governance framework and coordination/rationalization of a comprehensive business unit risk assessment agenda, based in Kampala Uganda.

Job Description Summary
Role
The Manager, Risk Management will help facilitate the implementation of an integrated, comprehensive assessment of risks, including day to day risks that may impact the ability of the business unit to meet its objectives, and will ensure that risks are consistently tracked and managed. The Business Unit Risk Manager will help align the division/ business/ function risk management activities with the Regional Risk Program Lead (RPL), Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Risk Champions, second line of defense functions, and management team.

The Manager, Risk Management will be responsible for:
• Coordination of the implementation of the Company’s risk governance framework
• Coordination and rationalization of a comprehensive business unit risk assessment agenda, including:
– ERM assessments
– Risk and Control Self Assessments (for processes and systems)
– Product/ new initiative assessments
• Providing support to the business on risk assessment activities (e.g., planning and
execution workshops) and development of response plans
• Tracking response plans for realized risk incidents
• Alignment of risk management activities performed by second and third lines line of
defense functions, and communicating issues and responses
• Management of divisional / business/ function Risk Forum agenda, including tracking and monitoring management actions/ remediation
– Drive alignment and coordination across risk management areas (2nd line of
defense) to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of risk management program.
– Support the RPL in the risk aggregation and consolidation process, in conjunction with the ERM Risk Champion, to support a holistic and comprehensive response to risks
– Periodically monitor risk metrics, tolerances and limits
– Monitor the progress of risk mitigation activities
- Issue periodic and timely reports to management on the status of risks and identify risks that warrant escalation
• Share risk insights identified at the Risk Forums with the Regional RPL, to inform Strategy and drive consideration of same into the strategic planning process

All About You

• Risk management experience in a large multinational with a mature ERM program
• Knowledge of risk management practices (e.g., ERM, ORM, technology)
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence at all levels including outside his/ her
reporting lines
• Experience in partnering with executive management
• Articulate and highly effective communicator
• Demonstrated success in applying risk management to support the business/ strategy
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work under pressure, in sometimes ambiguous circumstances
• People management experience, including experience as a manager of managers
• Understands and appreciates diverse backgrounds
