About the role
The Rehabilitation and Project Engagement Manager (Loy Yang) will support stakeholder engagement and social license activities relating to the planned closure of the Loy Yang A Power Station and Mine and the subsequent rehabilitation and future land use of the site.
This position offers a flexible hybrid arrangement, however will require frequent site attendance at Loy Yang to ensure close working relationship with rehabilitation teams; as well as regular attendance at Gippsland events.
This role will:
- Represent AGL Loy Yang as a community and stakeholder contact and create awareness to AGL Loy Yang rehabilitation strategies, plans and projects.
- Design, manage and implement stakeholder engagement and communication strategies to support AGL’s regulatory approval processes including water application licences, environmental effects statements, declared mine rehabilitation planning and community engagement fund.
- Build relationships with community and stakeholders to best understand and monitor sentiments, views and opportunities relating to the energy transition in the Latrobe Valley.
- Work closely with project managers and business leaders to develop and implement engagement strategies that support the development of transition, rehabilitation and energy hub projects at Loy Yang.
What you'll be doing
• Deliver effective stakeholder engagement to support the Loy Yang leadership team, specifically the Engineering and Projects team on key projects.
• Design and deliver activities that support timely and effective approvals from the Victorian Government.
• Achieve stakeholder support for AGL’s preferred rehabilitation methods and minimise opposition and reputational risks.
• Ensure stakeholder support and minimise opposition and reputational risks for AGL during the planning and assessment process for the declared mine rehabilitation plan.
• Ensure the local community, stakeholders and Traditional Owner group(s) are engaged in relation to investment committed to as part of the Structured Transition Agreement.
What you’ll bring
• Experience in the application of regulatory frameworks including Victorian Government assessment processes and community engagement.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement, government or public affairs.
• Experience in developing and implementing communication and engagement
strategies for a diverse range of stakeholders and audiences.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders (including regulatory bodies and community groups).
• Experience in creating and measuring social impact projects and partnerships.
• Working knowledge of customer relationship management systems and IAP2 Model of Public Participation.
• The ability to work proactively and autonomously and as part of a team, effectively manage time and prioritise workload.
• Knowledge of the energy industry, power stations, mining and rehabilitation would be advantageous.
• Current Australian driver’s license
