Manager, Performance Information Mgmt. & BI Reporting

Job Description

As Manager, Performance Information Mgmt. & BI Reporting on the PIMR team, you will support performance management initiatives through ongoing analytic leadership and reporting for strategic priorities including Sales & Service Effectiveness, Performance Enablement, Capacity Optimization and Performance Reporting. You will lead the design, development, documentation and delivery of an array of reports, metrics and insights reporting for various RBC leadership teams.  Supports business partners and stakeholders by successfully transforming data into useful, relevant information, and by leveraging sound business knowledge, additional sources of information, and resources to deliver insight to our internal clients.  The role acts as key subject matter expert both within the team and cross-functionally, on key performance measurements, data repositories and provides insight developed through comprehensive analysis. 

What will you do?

  • Design and Develop Insightful Reporting Solutions – Create leading-edge, descriptive and intuitive performance reporting tools that deliver actionable insights supporting CB sales strategies. Collaborate with business partners, strategy consultants, and IT teams to define and deliver on business and technical requirements
  • Build and enhance metrics and dashboards: develop and maintain an array of metrics, dashboards, and analytics that effectively communicate business performance and insights, using an agile approach while ensuring consistency and clarity across reporting platforms
  • Data Mining and Insight Generation: Leverage multiple RBC data sources to extract, analyze and interpret data, translating findings into meaningful insights that inform sales strategies, business performance, and decision making
  • Validate and Ensure Data Integrity: Employ rigorous testing, validation, and quality assurance techniques to ensure data accuracy, and reliability, maintaining comprehensive BMDs, mapping, and documentation for all enhancements after each release and ensuring updates are posted.
  • Maintain and Optimize Reporting Infrastructure: Manage, maintain, and enhance existing reports and centralized databases, streamline production processes through automation, and support migration to RBC’s enterprise data warehouse to improve efficiency and insight delivery
  • Resolve Production Issues and Manage Risk: Provide day-to-day reporting support, investigate and resolve data or reporting escalations, create incident reports/tickets and apply risk management principles to prioritize and mitigate production challenges
  • Consult and Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with business and IT stakeholders to design new reporting platforms that drive performance insights and enablement initiatives, while coaching IT partners to effectively execute business reporting requirements
  • Provide Technical Guidance and Leadership: Server as a technical expert by identifying and mitigating risks, recommending tactical and long-term solutions, and delivering clear, insight-driven presentations to business partners, cross teams, and senior management.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Advanced Technical and Reporting Expertise: Highly proficient/Experts in designing and developing reports and dashboards using Tableau, PowerBI, and/or Oracle BI(OAS), with strong understanding of data visualization principles, backend data modeling and database structures that support reporting development
  • Strong Data Management and Programming Skills: Highly skilled in SQL, Python and SQL Server, with hands-on experience extracting, manipulating and preparing data (ETL) from multiple sources (data warehouses, data marts, flat files, Teradata EDW, data lake). Basic familiarity with UNIX, Shell Scripting, SAS,JCL/SYSIN/Zeke/Datastage, and version control tools such as GitHub.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Strength: Exceptional ability to perform data discovery, aggregation, validation and summarization to generate actionable insights; strong QA fundamentals and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Business Acumen and Communication Skills: Ability to translate complex data and analytics into clear insights and recommendations; excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with confidence to engage senior stakeholders.
  • Data Governance and Security Awareness: Working Knowledge of data security compliance, including SSL, encryption standards, and secure handling of enterprise data assets
  • Adaptability and Collaboration: Highly self-motivated, detailed oriented, and organized with proven ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to change, and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams while maintaining a positive solutions-focused attitude.

Nice to have:

  • Prior experience within the Canadian banking or financial services industry with understanding of related data, products, and performance reporting needs
  • Exposure to other cloud data platforms experience: Exposure to Azure Data Services, AWS Redshift, or Google Big query, especially for reporting and analytics integration.
  • Advanced Analytics or Data Science Exposure: Familiarity with predictive modeling, statistical analysis, or machine learning techniques to enhance reporting insights
  • Project Management or Certification: Knowledge of Agile/Scrum Methodologies or certifications such as Scrum Master, PMP, or Agile Product Owner.
