Job Description:
Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Manager of Supply Chain Quality - USA who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Batesburg, SC.
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for the management of the Supply Chain Quality Team in USA: attendance, assigning work, holidays, defining goals, annual evaluation, rewards, regular 1:1 meetings, etc.
- Lead and plan the skills and the development of team members.
- Recruiting new technicians - cooperation with HR, on-boarding.
- Manage, monitor and balance the team workload.
- Plan, schedule, assign work, establish priorities, resolve personnel problems and take appropriate measures to ensure high quality work that meets specifications and is completed on schedule.
- Estimate, monitor and manage Cost Center budget and Work Package budgets in relation to the activities performed by the team.
- Responsible for the team's efficiency and continuous improvements including analysis, methods and reporting methodology.
- Ensure the correct inspection procedures by defining and specifying activities, processes, and standards to fulfil the quality requirements for manufactured material and purchased components.
- Reporting and troubleshooting supplier manufacturing process deviations and defects in incoming goods.
- Plan and execute supplier inspections (on-site or remote) based on product criticality, supplier performance, and commodity strategy.
- Maintain continuous communication with suppliers to coordinate inspection activities and align on delivery schedules.
- Expedite supplier deliveries by proactively identifying and resolving quality-related delays.
- Represent Hitachi Rail at supplier sites, promoting understanding of product requirements and their importance to safety, performance, and reliability.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
- Building and maintaining the infrastructure and systems necessary to consistently ensure the timely delivery of on-quality inspected components.
- Close cooperation across the entire company, especially the Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Category Managers, Project Quality Managers, and Project Supply Chain Managers to define inspection points and criteria.
- Manage document inspection findings, propose improvements, and support the development of supplier performance improvement plans.
- Contribute to regional supplier development initiatives and support strategic supply chain goals.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of internal guidelines and department performance indicators.
- Promote independent actions to improve operating efficiencies and relations with internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management and implement prompt actions, including participation in hiring process.
- Maintain awareness of state-of-the-art technology and market trends affecting Company products and services and recommend responsive actions.

Required skills & experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of working experience in incoming inspection or Supplier Quality Management. Preferred experience of leading APQP, PPAP, and FAI activities.
- Strong leadership and people management experience, be able to implement structured processes and tiered management governance.
- Structure and analytical thinking, innovation oriented, material inspection technologies proactive approach.
- Proactive approach, organizational skills and a desire to build a strong and effective department.
- Ability to ensure the team accomplishes complete tasks in a timely manner while producing quality work within the assigned budget
- Effective communication and negotiation skills at all levels, from senior leadership to individual contributors and on a global basis with remote multicultural teams.

- Able to think strategically as part of a group to understand and evaluate the potential impact of long-term decisions
- Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
- Experience with SAP or data evaluation in PowerBI is an advantage.
Candidates with the following skills/certifications are preferred:
- ASQ Certification
- L6S Green Belt or above
- Experience with CMM machines
Education:
Prefer a Master's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or other related areas (such as Material Science)
