Job Purpose

The Internal Communications team executes integrated communication tactics and coordinates with team members across internal audiences to support Jackson's strategic objectives as a part of the company's Enterprise Marketing & Communications function. The Manager, Internal Communications drives communications campaigns, strategies, and tactics to help inform, engage, and align employees with corporate strategy, corporate and departmental initiatives, and organizational changes. The Manager serves as an internal communications and marketing consultant, developing strategic communications to support workgroups, departments, and leadership and effectively guide business partners and team members in using communication tools and channels. The Manager leads a team of Internal Communications professionals to effectively deliver communications programs and content to various internal audiences, facilitating awareness of company messaging pillars and engagement with corporate culture, strategic priorities, and projects.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Consults on, manages, and leads internal communications and change management efforts for organizational initiatives and campaigns (e.g. organizational restructures, strategy and culture rollouts, and broad departmental projects).
  • Partners closely with communications colleagues as well as department and project leaders to align and support communications opportunities.
  • Builds and tracks performance metrics for communications campaigns, manages reporting for team and key stakeholders, and adjusts tactics to achieve desired results.
  • Creates, leads, and executes integrated communications plans that drive understanding and adoption.
  • Supports development of channel strategy and standardized analytics and reporting for various communications channels.
  • Supports vendor management and governance of various communications channels, including management and development of standard operating procedures, policies, best practices, and programs.
  • Helps lead implementation and adoption of new communications tools.
  • Plans, manages, and directs internally-focused email marketing campaigns, incorporating segmentation, personalization, and measurement to inform, inspire, and drive engagement.
  • Serves as producer/director for corporate town halls, managing meeting flow, content design and guest speaker support to build engaging meetings for employees.
  • Builds relationships and provides communications counsel and coaching to leaders (and others) to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Understands and communicates Jackson’s business and strategies for growth, including industry knowledge, finance, global trends, macroeconomic changes, marketing, securities laws, and regulatory changes.
  • Directly manages team (including applicable freelancers or consultants) and administers personnel actions, including hiring, performance management, and terminations.
  • Identifies and provides opportunities for team members’ growth and development while supporting function’s goal of enhancing the value proposition of communications for the company.
  • Supports work connected to company narrative in partnership with Corporate Communications and External Communications teams to support desired outcomes.
  • Collaborates with colleagues and leaders to ensure a consistent communications experience across employee channels.
  • Participates in major corporate initiatives where communications are critical factors to success.
  • Leads self and others in creation and delivery of communications plans, timelines, tactics, and deliverables that support desired business outcomes.
  • Manages multiple project plans and budgets, negotiating timelines and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Reviews and edits communications drafted by team, colleagues, and stakeholders and makes recommendations to ensure quality standards are met and messaging is consistent with Jackson’s strategic priorities, desired outcomes, and company tone.
  • Continually improves, measures, and evaluates effectiveness of strategies and methods, reporting on team effectiveness to stakeholders and leaders.

Other Duties

  • Serves as the department contact for business continuity/incident management activities.
  • Assists in curation of content and forums that drive engagement, align teams, and shape culture.
  • Partners with Enterprise Marketing & Corporate Communications Team to identify opportunities for audio/visual designs that support or replace long-form content.
  • May represent the company at community meetings and events.
  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

  • Superior business acumen required, insurance and/or financial services industry knowledge preferred.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Proficient in Associated Press style.
  • Excellent ability to use graphics and charts to illustrate ideas and tell stories.
  • Proficient in Office 365, including Microsoft Copilot, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Comfortable analyzing data and using data to drive decisions and tell stories.
  • Strong public speaking, consulting, and event planning expertise.
  • .Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Comfortable using Artificial Intelligence tools as part of daily work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing/Advertising, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or a similar field required.

  • 5+ years of internal communications, corporate communications, change management, or email marketing experience required; 7-10 years of experience preferred.

  • Experience leading an internal communications team (preferably with virtual team members) in times of corporate change and transformation preferred.

  • Experience leading and delivering results in a collaborative, partnership-driven culture .
