Manager - Global Sourcing

The Manager, Global Sourcing will work with the Director, Global Sourcing, and other cross functional partners to develop and manage Michaels Private Brand sourcing strategies to deliver business objectives and KPI’s established by the company for assigned categories.

Major Activities

  • Develop and execute Sourcing strategy based on product category needs.
  • Drive Private Brand growth through effective collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to secure surety of supply.
    Matrix management of Global Sourcing Partners directly or indirectly through Michaels Global Sourcing Asian Offices.
  • Develop vendor and product solutions in support of the Merchandising strategy, ensure that the company's goals of product innovation and quality are achieved.
  • Deliver optimal vendor matrix that drives category growth, flexibility, speed to market and profitability.
  • Collaborate with offshore office to identify and evaluate an effective vendor matrix.
  • Leverage the vendor matrix across the company to provide the best "cost" and "value" equation.
  • Accountable for vendor production assignments and production allocation.
  • Partner with Product Development Team to understand product roadmap, development strategy and innovation needs. Select the right vendor partners to execute program effectively.
  • Responsible for cost negotiations, production, on-time shipments, and overall execution for assigned product categories.
  • Be a key internal link between all internal and external stakeholders including Category Management, Sourcing, Product Development, Quality Assurance, Logistics, Vendor Relations, Finance, Supply Chain, Legal, Inventory Management, Michaels Global Sourcing Asia Offices, Vendors, and Buying Agents.
  • International and domestic travel is required to identify, evaluate, and manage a global vendor and agent network.
  • Coach and develop the Senior Associate Sourcing Manager and Associate Sourcing Manager.
    Other duties as assigned

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree
     

Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills

  • We are looking for a world class sourcing executive with a demonstrated track record in product development and sourcing
  • Must possess strong leadership, business knowledge and technical abilities

Minimum Type of Experience the Job Requires

  • 8+ years of experience with a major retailer, brand, or product development/sourcing company

  • Strong analytical and financial skills
  • Demonstrates leadership skills including strategic thinking and problem solving
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and constantly evolving environment

Preferred Education

  • Business related major is highly preferred
