Job Summary
The Manager, Facility Maintenance is responsible for the implementation of a Facility maintenance program at the Area Control Centre (ACC), and throughout a designated area of responsibility.

In this role you will:
- Adhere to all applicable Federal, Provincial and Municipal codes and regulations.
- Ensure Facilities are operated, maintained, and upgraded in accordance with all NC standards and programs (such as Physical Safety and Security Programs, Facilities Engineering Maintenance Standards) at all sites under their area of responsibility.
- Comply with Technical Operations Quality Control Program requirements for facility maintenance and adhere to ISO program requirements for Quality and Environment.
- Implement Facilities responsibilities associated with Corporate programs, such as 3Green.
- Manage the human and financial resources engaged in the delivery of the facility maintenance program throughout the area of responsibility.
- Manage and administer facility maintenance contracts in support of facility maintenance throughout the area of responsibility.
- Enable on-time installation and coordination of facility restoration and replacement activities including major building repairs or fit-up work to accommodate new requirements.
- Deliver assigned minor works projects in support of the overall Capital plan.
- Participate in the planning of short- and long-term facility maintenance plans with Facilities Engineering.
- Establish contingency plans to meet emergency situations in case of fire and/or the requirement to evacuate a facility while minimizing impacts on NAV CANADA customers.
- Interact with building occupants, contractors, Head Office, and Regional staff on all matters pertaining to the work of the position.
- Monitor, evaluate, and adjust work processes in the management of building systems operations to meet building occupant’s requirements.
- Determine financial requirements (budgeting) and administration (cost centre allocations, forecasting) of their portion of the budget.
- Monitor and report activity against budgets / business plans and respond to variances as appropriate.
- Direct the day-to-day activities by establishing the work unit’s business goals and objectives, priorities, financial and resource plans.
- Determine the on-going staff requirements and hire and/or promote subordinates in order to fulfill these needs.
What you bring:
- Provincial / National Degree or Certification from a recognized Technical Institute, Community College, or University in Facility / Property Management and/or certified in a related trade would be an asset.
- 5+ years’ experience in Facilities Management and/or of the Property Management Industry.
- Strong knowledge of civil, structural, electrical, mechanical technologies, maintenance, and Facilities Management techniques.
- Knowledge of company project programming, budgeting, and organizational relationships.
- Knowledge of contract management methods.
- A thorough understanding of building code requirements.
- Construction and Facilities services procedures and processes.
- Good knowledge of Work Order Management systems and software applications (i.e. Maximo).

- Must possess a well-developed technical proficiency in the multi-disciplinary technologies associated with facility management
- Ability to operate a personal computer and common office software (i.e. Word, Excel, MS Project, Internet, Intranet)
- Ability to influence with respect to the negotiation of contracts and resolution of contentious issues
- Effective oral and written communications with individuals and groups within the company as well as external contractors, consultants, municipal, provincial, and federal government representatives
- Initiative and judgement are required in managing the budget
- Judgement is required in creating a work atmosphere conducive to stable Labour relations in the workplace
- Must be able to make time-critical decisions with limited information
Working Conditions:
- This position is on site and not eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
