Manager, Engineering Configuration and Standards

Position Summary:
The Manager, Engineering Configuration and Standards is responsible for leading the configuration management team within Mold-Masters, a configure-to-order global leader in the plastics industry. This role ensures the integrity, standardization, and traceability of product data and technical documentation throughout the product lifecycle. The incumbent will oversee PLM system implementation, drive process automation, and ensure compliance with international standards. The position requires strong leadership, certification in configuration management, and experience managing complex product configurations in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Work You’ll Do:

  • Lead and develop the configuration management team, overseeing departmental operations, budgets, and personnel development.

  • Define and implement configuration management strategies aligned with digital transformation initiatives.

  • Manage PLM system configuration, workflows, and data governance to support configure-to-order processes.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as CMII, IEC82079-1, and Directive 2006/42/EC.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, classification systems, and standard parts libraries.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to optimize product configurations and data accuracy.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline configuration processes and enhance data quality.

  • Coordinate change management, configuration audits, and system integrations across global sites.

  • Provide guidance on technical documentation and translation strategies for international markets.

  • Represent the configuration management function in cross-departmental projects and strategic initiatives.

Team:
This role will be part of the Global Engineering Services team, working closely with Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing, and IT.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in PLM, configuration management, or related engineering roles within a manufacturing environment.

  • Certification in Configuration Management (e.g., CMII or equivalent).

  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and cross-functional projects.

  • Strong knowledge of PLM, ERP systems, and data governance standards.

  • Experience in a configure-to-order environment, preferably within the plastics industry.

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PLM-ERP integration and system automation.

  • Familiarity with international standards and technical documentation development.

  • Experience implementing or optimizing standard parts libraries and classification systems.

  • Knowledge of plastics manufacturing processes and mold design is a plus.

Effort and Work Environment:
This position involves working in a fast-paced office environment with occasional travel to global sites. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
