We are currently seeking a Manager, Closures Engineering. This position requires an experienced professional with responsibility for managing the design and development of the closures systems of a world-class vehicle.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a world-class Closures Engineering team.
  • Drive the design, development, validation, and launch of all closures systems in the Lucid portfolio (hood, doors, decklid/liftgate, chargeport, hardware, mechanisms).
  • Create industry-leading closures systems optimized for cost, weight, durability, and functionality.
  • Oversee full program cycle from concept through production launch, ensuring compliance with performance objectives, cost targets, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Design, Vehicle Engineering, CAE, Manufacturing, and attribute owners (Safety, NVH, Durability, Dynamics) to deliver integrated, world-class designs.
  • Partner with suppliers to ensure technical excellence and on-time delivery.
  • Utilize CAE simulation and physical testing to validate structural integrity, crashworthiness, and overall performance.
  • Manage design and release engineering, including change management and project timelines.
  • Ensure manufacturing feasibility, efficient process sequencing, and build quality; support tool buy-offs and component changes.
  • Benchmark materials, section properties, and processes to maintain competitive designs.
  • Coordinate virtual engineering and physical validation testing activities.
  • Apply GD&T for tolerance definition and ensure robust design documentation.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years in automotive closures engineering; 3+ years in management preferred.
  • Full lifecycle experience from concept to production launch.
  • Deep knowledge of closures systems, industry benchmarks, and supplier capabilities.
  • Proven ability to establish technical specifications and accelerate development cycles.
  • Expertise in structural performance, NVH, durability, and safety standards.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD (CATIA V5/V6 or similar); experience with Class A surfaces.
  • Hands-on experience in prototype and production assembly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills using first principles; detail-oriented and adaptable in fast-paced environments.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes for closures structures and plastics (stamping, injection molding, casting, extrusion, joining).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to negotiate balanced solutions. 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (ABET accredited) or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred.
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Base Pay Range (Annual)
$169,900$249,150 USD
