Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Location: Medley, FL

Reports To: Maintenance Manager

Department: Maintenance

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Supervises the daily activities of a group of mechanics, welders, and electricians which repair and maintain equipment and facilities.
  • Coordinates all safety activities, including training, for the crew, ensuring compliance with Mine, Corporate, and MSHA safety standards.
  • Performs job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures, and State and Federal environmental regulations.
  • Monitors work to ensure that environmental standards are met.
  • Performs administrative duties associated with supervision, such as, recording time worked, evaluating individual performance, counseling, or corrective action procedures relating to unacceptable behavior, and assisting individuals with personal or performance problems.
  • Coordinates work with other departments and shifts to minimize down time and maximize productivity in order to meet delivery schedules at the lowest cost per ton.
  • Plans and schedules maintenance work using personnel, material, and equipment effectively.
  • Maintains records of equipment component hours to establish current and future maintenance costs and predict equipment availability.
  • Direct oversite of maintenance activities in the field.
  • Quarterly internal audits are required.
  • Frequent travel is necessary.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Coordinates work with outside vendors.
  • Supervises contract labor activities.
  • Responsible for monitoring assigned fleet, i.e., draglines, loaders, trucks or dozers.
  • Ensuring parts are ordered for breakdowns.
  • Track hours on failed components for warranty consideration.
  • Must drive a company vehicle and maintain a valid driving record (MVR) and in good standing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Willing to work rotating schedule which includes nights.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of mechanical maintenance, welding, or electrical maintenance. Electrical maintenance preferred.
  • Knowledge of all applicable safety standards for mining, ability to direct the work of crew members in an effective manner. 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Vocational technical training in related skill areas and several years of progressively more responsible experience. 
  • Supervisory experience and/or training in the area of supervision is required.
