Maintenance Electrician

Amentum is seeking a Maintenance Electrician in Oahu, Hawaii to support an upcoming contract opportunity.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the operation, maintenance and installation of the electrical systems on a seafaring vessel. When electrician work is not required the individual shall perform deck work as directed, as well as preservation, cleaning, maintenance, fabrication, upgrade/expansion, and repair duties.
  • Additional duties shall include riding the ocean-faring vessel during all at-sea missions to participate in all at-sea operations including performing deck and rigging tasks, cooking, cleaning, conducting rounds, standing watch, participating in firefighting operations, and performing emergency repairs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Active SECRET Security Clearance required. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a DOD Secret clearance.
  • Eight years of relevant work experience or graduated from a technical school with six years of relevant work experience. Relevant work experience should be shown in areas of at-sea vessel operations (deck, rigging and line handling tasks, cooking, cleaning, conducting rounds, standing watch, participating in firefighting operations, and performing emergency repairs), in-port operations (rigging, crane  operation, forklift operation, manlift operation), and maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, upgrades, fabrication,  installation, operational and testing support of hull, mechanical and electrical (HM&E) systems found on ocean-faring vessels.
  • American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) Electrical Certification and Advanced Electrical Certification.
  • Additional training and certifications in firefighting, ship damage control, rigging, crane operation, forklift operation, man lift operation, first aid, automatic external defibrillators, CPR, and sanitary food service, as well as electrical, electronics, and/or power distribution training preferred.
  • Experience should be especially focused in the electrical aspects of systems, including diesel generators, power distribution systems up to and including 480V, UPSs, and parallel switching gear.
  • Experience in defining electrical requirements, designing and specifying solutions, and safely executing the electrical build-out and hook up, including lock-out tag-out procedures.
  • Familiarity should be shown with best commercial electrical practices, especially the National Electrical Code.
  • Completion of US Coast Guard (USCG) Approved Basic Fire Fighting Course or Refresher within the past five (5) years (preferred) or complete within 30 days of employment.
  • Completion of USCG Approved Able Bodied Seaman Course (preferred) or completion within 30 days of employment
  • Completion a USCG Approved Advance Fire Fighting Course or Refresher within the last five (5) years (preferred) or completion within 30 days of employment.

Compensation: 
The annual starting salary/ hourly rate for this position is between $40-$50 per hour.  Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
