This position offers a highly motivated and skilled individual the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, international environment, with exposure to Roche external growth strategy and senior management. Mergers & Acquisitions is part of Corporate Business Development, and plays a critical part in bringing external innovation into the company. Roche is a leading deal-maker in the industry with a professional in-house team that offers further development opportunities within the team and beyond and direct exposure to senior management across the Roche group. The M&A Analyst works on all Roche M&A deals: Pharma / Research, Diagnostics or Healthcare IT acquisitions and divestments (“Deals”) that are either being contemplated or executed, together with an experienced M&A professional.
In this position, you will be responsible for or support the analytical review of Deal opportunities, and contribute to the assessment or execution of M&A projects. This includes interface with other colleagues involved in Deals, such as legal, accounting, taxes, and divisional experts; plan and execute public data gathering, accessing both internal and external databases and information channels; involvement in development of commercial case and corresponding assumptions; model and perform comprehensive multi-criteria company valuations, including pro-forma impact analysis.
Building financial models, analyzing company financials, performing valuation analyses (DCF, comps, etc.) and supporting offer structuring
Participating in the Deal process, i.e. interactions and negotiations with the counterparty / its advisers
Summarizing analysis into structured presentations and communicating findings in internal meetings
Contributing to and coordinating due diligence processes as well as the establishment of Deal related documentation, such as due diligence lists, bid letters, process letters, information memorandums, etc.
Interfacing with Roche external advisers
Participating in strategic discussions in the review of potential investment opportunities, M&A landscapes, etc.
You have a recognized University degree (Finance or Economics or related; a Master and/or a Science degree is a plus). In addition, you bring 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience in Investment Banking, Corporate Finance / M&A Advisory, Corporate M&A, Consulting or other financial advisory related work. You have a desire for hands-on involvement and the ability to cope with challenges and time pressure are important for this position. Exposure to the Pharma / Biotech sector will be considered as a plus.
In addition, you bring the following skills and experience:
High rigor, curiosity and proactiveness
Strong data gathering, analytical and quantitative modeling skills
Good organization of own work and time and the ability to work well under pressure, with continuous attention to details
Strong written and verbal communication skills when interacting with internal stakeholders, advisers and counterparts
Self-starter personality, demonstrating willingness to contribute to team dynamic as well as initiative taker, with strong personal motivation, drive and high integrity / reliability
Business mindset and interest in the Healthcare sector with aspirations to progress within Roche beyond M&A
English is the working language (oral & written), additional language skills along with previous international experience would be a plus
