About the role

The role coordinates logistics processes to ensure customer satisfaction. An awareness of and strategic response to external influences, such as legislation, fuel costs and environmental pressures, is vital. The role involves warehousing, handling, transportation, stock control, and ensuring structures and processes are in place to monitor the flow of goods and materials.

The role works together with all Supply Chain teams and other stakeholders across different departments (Procurement, Finance, Planning, Customer Service, etc).

Purpose of the Role:

The role is responsible for managing the operational relationship with 3PL’s for Spain, in order to:

  • ensure 3PLs perform to required service levels as documented in contract (including KPIs) and/or agreed with senior 3PL management, through daily, weekly, monthly & quarterly reviews

  • gather specific data as requested by the Contract (operational and strategic suite of daily, weekly, monthly reports) and collaborate with the 3PL providers to ensure information integrity and timeliness

  • plan capacity requirements with the 3PLs to ensure a fit-for-purpose logistic set up and support business growth ambition

  • support deployment of SRM and SPM programs

  • ideate, lead and support new or existing projects to Improve and Transform the business

  • drive process improvement and innovation programs between Diageo and 3PLs (Continuous Improvement Program)

  • leverage the Global Supply and Procurement organisation to ensure a seamless end-to-end movement of goods and of information through the European supply chain and support projects aiming to review logistics footprint enhancement

Top Accountabilities:

-Operational

  • Provide forecasts visibility to 3PLs, to help them source capacity and flex their operations particularly ahead of peak periods, including external storage strategy & requirements. Identify, share and mitigate risks to capacity and/or country plans.
  • Chair and lead operational meetings, encompassing Daily Operational Review (DORs), Weekly Operational Review (WORs), monthly meetings (where appropriate), Quarterly Review Meetings (QRMs)

-Financial

  • Lead the cost and service Continuous Improvement Program agenda, engaging with 3PLs and reaching out to functions outside of Supply Chain if necessary, to unlock opportunities

  • Create AOP targets and identify/review financial R&Os, ensuring realistic accruals are in place for all risk / anticipated spend and ensure delivery of the opportunities.

  • Manage the POs and Secondary Logistics Budget

-Governance & compliance

  • Lead the audit and compliance agenda with the 3PLs, ensuring LTO audits are followed up and Business Continuity plans are maintained and tested as appropriate

  • Ensure operations are in line with law, as well as internal CARM and GAR requirements

 

About you

  • University degree or equivalent experience (logistics/operation qualifications would be a distinct advantage)

  • Preferred to have at least 5 - 6 years in Logistics/Operations and related areas

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Strong understanding of the impact of supply chain and logistic processes on business performance

  • Solid understanding of IT in the field of logistics

  • Strong financial competence and excellent understanding/practical experience in budgetary control & procedures

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, being capable of developing sound working relationships

  • Strong and validated negotiation skills

  • Fluent professional English knowledge

  • Solid understanding of IT in the field of logistics

  • Knowledge of basic Tax/Excise/Strip stamps/Customs regulations
