Job Summary: THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1638000 and is part of the IL 183 WG, National Guard.

Major Duties:

  • As a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), GS-0346-11, you will implement logistics policy programs and procedures, utilizing automated/non-automated systems for the accurate control of logistical planning in support of unit tasked contingency operations around the world. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Design logistics packages to meet Operation Plans (OPLAN) tasking and coordinate with tasked units to ensure compliance and accuracy of systems. Formulate and consolidate logistical annexes for IDS guidance, based on regulations, manuals, instructions and directives issues by higher headquarters. Manage the Unit Deployment Control Center (UDCC) to ensure each deployment runs efficiently. Produce CALM products for unit deployment exercises or operations. Plan and develop deployment training for the unit, in addition to conduct deployment training exercises. Ensure the unit meets all pre-execution and command and control requirements for deployments. Determine the type and number of aircraft required for mission deployment. Ensure all unit personnel and equipment are properly identified and prepared for deployment. Develop load plans and analyze transportation requirements for the unit. Analyze and identify tasking for logistical shortfalls, Limiting Factors (LIMFACs) and problems. Recommend the elevation of problems/discrepancies when unable to resolve at the unit level. Monitor the status of the logistical readiness of the unit and determine deviations in the total logistical posture.

Qualifications: AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence: The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will be U.S. Citizens. Minimum rank required TSgt, maximum rank allowed MSgt. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience, education or training involving judgment and/or analytical ability in the logistics field; experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-11 Level MUST possess at least 12 months at the lower level GS-09, experience, education, or training identifying activities involving logistical support operations; experience integrating the actions of a variety of specialized support activities in order to develop a comprehensive logistics plan; experience monitoring such functions as program planning, resource and fiscal management, training, manpower management, and/or automated data processing to meet the logistics plan; experience identifying delays or problems and developing corrective actions; experience working with people from various levels and backgrounds to elicit their cooperation to perform specific tasks, and complying with regulations, laws, or practices. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
