The Lifts and Escalator Expert will be responsible for managing the technical aspects of all vertical transportation systems within the railway network, including passenger lifts, freight elevators, and escalators. This role requires strong collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and authorities to ensure systems are delivered efficiently, safely, and in accordance with project specifications and operational requirements.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Oversee the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of lifts and escalators across stations, depots, and other railway facilities.

  • Review and approve technical submittals, shop drawings, and material selections to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.

  • Ensure all lifts and escalators are designed and installed in accordance with international codes (EN 81, EN 115, BS, ISO) and UAE regulations.

  • Coordinate with architectural, structural, and MEP teams to ensure seamless integration of vertical transportation systems within station designs.

  • Monitor contractor performance, ensuring that quality, safety, and schedule targets are achieved.

  • Conduct inspections and quality audits during installation and testing phases to verify compliance and operational readiness.

  • Review interface requirements between lifts/escalators and other systems such as fire safety, electrical, communication, and control systems.

  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and performance evaluations prior to handover.

  • Ensure proper commissioning documentation, O&M manuals, and as-built records are submitted in accordance with project closeout procedures.

  • Lead the resolution of technical issues, non-conformities, and design conflicts.

  • Collaborate with safety and operations teams to ensure that accessibility, safety features, and passenger flow requirements are fully met.

  • Participate in risk assessments, reliability studies, and maintenance planning to ensure long-term operational performance.

  • Provide technical support during design reviews, progress meetings, and coordination workshops with consultants, contractors, and the client.

  • Ensure all lift and escalator works comply with local authority requirements, railway safety standards, and international best practices.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • 15+ years of experience in the design, installation, and commissioning of lifts and escalators for metro or rail projects.

  • In-depth knowledge of international codes and standards for lifts and escalators (EN 81, EN 115, ISO, BS, ASME).

  • Proven track record managing installation and testing of multiple lift and escalator packages within complex, fast-track projects.

  • Strong technical understanding of drive systems, control systems, safety mechanisms, and performance testing procedures.

  • Experience conducting site inspections, technical audits, and factory acceptance tests.

  • Familiarity with UAE regulatory requirements and approval processes related to lifts and escalators.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting design drawings, schematics, and specifications.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Excellent communication and reporting skills for client presentations, coordination meetings, and technical documentation.

  • Ability to interface effectively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and client representatives.
