What we want
The Licensed Vocational Nurse II, under general supervision, provides an advanced level of paraprofessional patient care and treatment with supervisory and/or administrative research responsibilities, and provides nursing care to patients and supports the nurse practitioner staff.

Required Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited school of vocational or practical nursing
Two years of related experience in patient care
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and ability to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six months of employment
State of Texas class 'C' vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
Three years of related experience in patient care
Experience with rural healthcare
Experience with electronic health records (eCW preferred)
Ability to work cooperatively with others
Knowledge of standard nursing procedures and processes
Interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
Ability to use and manage an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
Responsibilities:
Patient Care Activities
Serves as a key member of the school-based East Texas Mobile Clinic team.
Works collaboratively to provide patient care on the College of Nursing Mobile Clinic.
Measures vital signs and assesses patient conditions.
Documents patient health information and nursing care activities in the electronic medical records system.
Assists with the maintenance of drug and vaccine logs and monitors expiration dates.
Assists providers during exams and procedures.
May assist with injections and dispense medications.
Assists with patient referrals.
Operates and maintains the clinic, which includes maintaining inventory and requisition of medical supplies, medications, and equipment.
Drives, in a University vehicle, to schools and homes of patients participating in the clinic in order to provide vital services.
Maintains the highest standards of nursing practice.
Administrative Functions
Assists with administrative functions needed to support the mobile clinic and patient care
Maintains travel logs along with mobile clinic maintenance schedules
Ensures insurance information is documented appropriately upon each visit and ensures completion of all intake tasks
May act as the liaison with outside medical providers to schedule outpatient testing
Files lab requests and results and distributes lab results
Obtains clinical reports from affiliated organizations
Orders medical supplies and coordinates with business office
Maintains inventory and lab supplies and coordinates with CPL or other lab carriers as needed
Supervision and Training
May provide guidance and direction to Medical Assistants providing patient care
Assists with training for Medical Assistants and student workers in the unit
Continuing Education and Committee Participation
Participates in continuing education activities as required by the Texas Board of Nursing and department Serves on committees as assigned
