The HPB Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the clinicals and administrative operations of the Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary program. This position facilitates patient access to specialized care, coordinates multidisciplinary servicers, managers data and reporting, and supports quality improvement initiatives. The coordinator works closely with the surgeons, advanced practice providers, and other departments to ensure seamless and patient-centered care.
Licensure or other certifications:
Educational Requirements: Associates Degree
Minimum Experience: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or related field. 3-5 years of experience in care coordination or specialty program support. Strong organizational and communication skills. Proficiency in HER systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Experience: Clinical background (e.g., RN , CMA) is highly desirable. Experience in surgical oncology or hepatobiliary care. Familiarity with clinical databases and quality reporting tools.

Strong nursing skills with extensive nursing knowledge and ability to safely triage patient concerns and make appropriate recommendations or escalate appropriately for the HPB patient population
Analytical ability necessary to plan and coordinate the HPB continuum of care alongside the surgeon to ensure effectiveness
Promotes teamwork and demonstrates respect for co-workers
Must have critical thinking skills, be able to problem solve independently, work well in a team environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Clinical Coordination-Serves as the primary point of contact for patients navigating HPB care. Coordinate appointments, referrals, and follow-up visits across specialties. Collaborate with providers to ensure timely and appropriate care planning. Support pre-operative and post operative patient education and communication.
Administrative & Operational Support-Manage scheduling and logistics for HPB clinics and procedures. Liaise with departments such as radiology, oncology, and surgery to streamline workflows. Process billing documentation and assist with insurance verification. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in EHR systems.
Data & Quality Management-Oversee data collection and reporting for HPB-related registries (e.g., NSGIP). Develop and maintain reports to support clinical decision-making and program evaluation. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and process optimization.
