Academic Support SpecialistThe Library Assistant is a student-facing, teaching, and instructional role. The role involves duties on the reference desk five days per week during core service hours and providing in-person and online academic support services to students, as well as producing online content for the Library website. This role extends the services beyond the confines of the physical library and is instrumental in providing access to support for students who may be remote or working or facing other challenges with accessing the campus during Library opening hours.
Fixed term contract. Maternity leave cover.
Job Description
Providing excellent Reference services both on-campus and remotely
Providing Circulation services including managing library accounts, processing payments, maintaining statistics, shelving, stocktaking, etc.
Assisting students, faculty, and staff with their queries
Producing and maintaining relevant guides, literature, webpages and Moodle content
Assisting other teams with relevant projects
Communicating with relevant stakeholders regarding service changes and enhancements
Complete any other tasks as requested by the Library Leadership Team
Requirements
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Availability to work evening shifts and weekend hours as required
Desirable
Previous experience working in Reader Services
Strong IT skills to support student success in a hybrid learning environment
