About the opportunity
N26 is looking for a committed Legal Counsels Banking Law & Litigation, with a focus on court proceedings and litigation. You will represent N26's interests competently and solution-oriented in court proceedings, as well as in out-of-court disputes. You will communicate independently with the opposing party, the courts, and internal departments, clarifying the facts of the case. You will independently process incoming mail related to court proceedings.
Another focus is supporting the Senior Legal Counsels in the Head of Banking Law & Litigation with research on general civil law issues and banking and banking regulatory law. In addition, you will provide legal support for the development of new features for the N26 app and the launch of financial products, as well as coordinate with internal and external local counsels in our European markets on local legal issues.
In this role, you will:

Independent support and processing of legal proceedings (particularly civil, enforcement and insolvency matters)

Representation of the bank in judicial and extrajudicial proceedings

Preparation and review of pleadings, expert opinions and statements

Strategic process management in close coordination with the specialist departments

Management and coordination of external lawyers

Legal advice to internal departments on banking and civil law issues

Observation of current case law and its implementation in practice
What you need to be successful:
Background:
-
Fully qualified lawyer (first and second state examination with above-average results) and qualification to German Bar
-
First Professional experience as a lawyer in banking law, civil litigation law or in a legal department of a financial institution is desirable but not mandatory

First Knowledge of civil, credit and procedural law desirable

Confident demeanor, negotiating skills and assertiveness

Independent, precise and structured way of working

Strong communication skills and team spirit

Willingness to be admitted as an in-house lawyer

You have a strong interest in technical and business contexts, as well as digital business models. You are also particularly interested in finance and fintechs.
