We are currently searching for a Legal Assistant to join your dynamic Enbridge Legal Services team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing legal administrative support services to inhouse lawyers who are members of the Legal Major Transactions (MT) group and the Ethics & Compliance (E&C) (including Litigation) group within the Enbridge Law Department.

The position is based in the company’s Houston, TX office, and reports to the Associate General Counsel & Managing Director of Major Transactions in that office.

What you will do:

Administrative Support

  • Coordinate personnel schedules, meetings, appointments, and events. Handle all logistics relating to meetings and events.
  • Handle all logistics relating to in-person meetings, CLE’s and Team Building events.
  • Assist with onboarding of employees joining the MT group or the E&C group (including Litigation).
  • Arrange travel, and process expenses through Oracle Cloud.

Legal E-billing Functions

  • Open and close TeamConnect matters, manage external counsel budgets, accruals, and process all incoming invoices for inhouse lawyers I support in the MT group or the E&C group (including Litigation).
  • Responsible for coding, processing external counsel and other Law Department invoices, maintaining Excel spreadsheet to track invoices.
  • Provide assistance with onboarding legal vendors through Oracle Cloud and TeamConnect Legal e-billing.
  • Assist with settlement check request process such as setting up payees, and monitoring status of payment requisitions.
  • Keep track of invoices and assist with the success fee calculations of MT.

MT and E&C (incl. Litigation,)Support

  • Support document management, and external counsel engagement through TeamConnect.
  • Provide word processing and related support to ENB inhouse lawyers and paralegals such as drafting, proofreading, and revising legal documentation, correspondence, and other documents.
  • Assist inhouse lawyers with document requests related to litigation or investigations, or responsive productions by regulators in connection with M&A transactions.
  • Support MT and E&C (incl. Litigation) members with scheduling travel and processing related receipts and accounting for expenses.
  • Assist inhouse lawyers to assemble and distribute within hardcopy signing and/or closing binders.

Who you are:

  • You will have a minimum of 5 years of legal administrative experience at private practice law firms and/or inhouse legal departments.
  • Ability to work independently on demanding workloads and meet tight deadlines.
  • You will maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in handling information and files for Enbridge’s inhouse lawyers.
  • You possess exceptional interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and people skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and familiar with MS Teams.
  • Able to quickly learn other information/document management systems and assist staff in the Law Department with basic technology issues.
  • Able to maintain a positive and enthusiastic approach to the work even when competing priorities and tight timelines exist.

Working Conditions

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Mental Requirements (Both Field & Office) include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
