Job Description

How will you make an impact?
As a Learning Specialist, you will complete administrative tasks associated with the Learning Management System (LMS), maintain the training program and craft training covering Thermo Fisher’s Laboratory Equipment portfolio. The ideal candidate will be organized, self-motivated, creative, results oriented, and collaborative individual! This team works with a diverse group of individuals to provide our internal and external customer excellent service. This individual will review information for completeness, ensure accuracy and enter the provided data in the LMS. The team strives for effective use of a LMS and provides our customers troubleshooting support. We use a shared inbox for requests and questions related to scheduled training sessions, reports, requests/forms, and questions. A crucial part of our role is communication and the scheduling of training sessions for trainers, as well as tracking sessions’ attendance. The ownership of strong interpersonal skills will enable all parties to accomplish the team’s goals. As a team, we will work together and participate in training team projects to continue to evolve to meet our customer’s needs.


What will you do?
• Design and develop learning materials for a variety of equipment
• Build outlines, scripts, and eLearning using tools (e.g. Articulate and Vyond)
• Bring together, create, and edit media using tools such as Adobe Suite and Camtasia
• Manage the set up our courses and sessions along with registering learners
• Handle requests in an LMS
• Lead the creation of tools to enable learners to sign up for in person classes


How will you get there?
• Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Media/Design, English, Education, Biology, Chemistry; or other related degree with relevant work or internship experience
• Experience with software or databases, especially Learning Management Systems
• Knowledge of instructional design
• Proficiency with the English language


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
You will need to be proficient in the use of Microsoft office programs LMS's, eLearning authoring tools, and video editing software. Your possession of strong spelling, grammar, writing, and attention to details. Your strong digital literacy, including the ability to navigate spreadsheets and reports will drive our success. We must be agile, timely and driven to achieve our goals. This role will be to lead LMS activities including the management of content, recording of registration, troubleshooting, and completion of learning activities by applying knowledge of the functionalities and structures of an LMS. Your ability to follow a structured design process, such as ADDIE or SAM, including conducting organized needs analyses, creating design documents, storyboarding, scriptwriting, and evaluating outcomes will create phenomenal outcome for our customers.
