Why this role is important to us
The Group VAT Consultant will be an integral part of our tax team, a specialized subset within Group Finance. Our team is responsible for overseeing the tax and transfer pricing compliance and strategy across all 40+ SimCorp entities.
Based at Warsaw (one of our key finance locations), this role offers an exciting opportunity to shape SimCorp's indirect tax strategy and ensure compliance across our global operations.
We’re looking for a skilled VAT Consultant, who will be responsible for providing day-to-day tax support to our stakeholders for all markets ensuring full compliance with all local and internationally applicable indirect tax rules, leading projects such as SAP implementation and travel tool implementation. The countries covered will include EMEA, Americas and APAC.
Reporting directly to the Global Head of Tax, your primary responsibility will be to oversee comprehensive tax operations, ensuring compliance and efficiency across SimCorp entities. In this vital role, you will adopt a strategic approach to set up processes and controls to manage indirect tax compliance, play a leading role in tax controversy, and provide tax advisory to stakeholders. You will also be the tax person in-charge of special projects such as SAP implementation.
What you will be responsible for
Establish consistent processes for the group entities to ensure accurate and timely filing of VAT returns in all jurisdictions
Develop and implement VAT processes and controls to the group to ensure that our tax policy is embedded in local operations
Provide timely support to our stakeholders including business, legal, and within the finance team on reviewing and managing the indirect tax compliance matters for various countries
Act as the VAT lead to drive projects such as SAP implementation and new travel tool
Manage indirect tax audits in the various jurisdictions in close corporation with the local financial controllers and rest of the Tax Team colleagues
Work closely with Group Finance, subsidiary finance teams, external tax advisors, and tax authorities to provide tax advice in all matters of relevance for indirect tax compliance and risk management
Keep up-to-date with indirect tax legislations and assess their impact on the group
What we value:

Minimum 6 years international tax experience in industry or consultancy with emphasis on working with multinational groups for various markets
Relevant education such as lawyer, CPA, economist or education from tax administration or any combination thereof.
Skills and Knowledge:
Solid experience with VAT and other indirect taxes on international services with comprehensive understanding and experience in dealing with various indirect taxes topics that may affect day-to-day business operations
Proven ability to lead complex projects and deliver results such as SAP implementation.
Act as an owner with a proactive approach to driving changes and improvements in tax practices.
Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to build meaningful relations with internal stakeholders and teams
High attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Experience with financial systems (e.g. SAP) and master data.
General accounting/finance skills and experience is beneficial.
Advanced communication skills, with fluency in English (both verbal and written).
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and other MS Office tools.
